A product no one ever knew that they needed...
« on: May 16, 2023, 08:41:03 AM »
Take a look at this site. Basically they sell rechargeable battery-warmed coffee cups.

https://ember.com/

$150 for a *expletive deleted*ing 14 ounce cup with a battery warmer?

"Ember’s patented technology allows you to experience precision temperature control in your everyday life, with the vision to transform how the world eats, drinks, and lives, empowering you to experience your world without limits."

You know, since I was just a youngster I've thought that if someone could make a precision temperature controlled mug and could do it for less than $1,000 it would absolutely revolutionize my life.

My God, what a wonderful world in which we live.

Careful. Your wife may now realize that her life and world vision has been transformed so much that you're now redundant.

My wife bought me one of those as a birthday gift from Costco.  Every now and again she asks me why I have not even taken it out of the box.

My daughter got me one those USB powered coffee mug warmers. Found they really don't put out enough heat to be really all that useful and they require your coffee mug to be perfectly flat on the bottom to work at their best, most mugs aren't.

Now that I know they exist, I positive I will never need or want one.

I bought my father a coffee cup warmer from Sharper Image one year. He said he liked it, since one of his major recreations was going online to libertarian forums, and he needed plenty of sustenance.

A battery powered coffee cup . . . for $150? No. Just - no.

In the same vein, as much as I think a battle mug is cool (  https://battlemug.com/  ) there is NO WAY I'm going to spend $189 for one. Or one of the much cheaper Chinese plastic or metal knock-offs that may be leaching chemicals into my coffee.

For the love...

Can't people just sell their doohickeys without claiming to be changing the world, or saving the planet? Guess your product isn't that great, if you have to sell me some moonshine, instead.

I just use a hand phaser, and zap! Hot coffee.

Yeah.  I gag when I see the word "empowered."

As a personal matter, I don't like hot coffee and I take measures to cool it down when freshly made.

Apart from dislike of hot drinks (tea, e.g.) in general, I think cold coffee stains one's teeth less.  Besides, my coffeepot takes 900 Watts.  For you country folks, that's 1.21 Horsepower.

There.  You be empowered, now, hear?  Because before reading this, you were weak-willied washed-out wimps.

The only empowerment I want from my coffee cup is from the caffeine in it.

Over half a decade ago someone gave me a 12 or 16 oz.Yeti tumbler.
It was 2pm before the damn coffee was cool enough to drink.
