As someone said in the comments
Some people just need a punch in the face

Unfortunately I see a big payout coming

If there is justice, the airline will tell the guy that if he proceeds with a suit or presses charges that they'll whip out the "unruly passenger" legal stuff at him...

Looking at the video, he didn't look like he was seriously hurt.  He was smirking into the camera afterward.  I didn't listen to the audio, but I think Mr. Tyson lawyer would be smart to not settle with this guy.

If he could walk away, then Tyson pulled those punches. Minor tune-up.

Saw the video.  That kid got what he deserved.

100% deserved what he got.  If I was on a jury, I would vote for Mike as this kid paid the stupid tax that he deserved.

Some info on the punchee

Quote
Melvin Townsend III of Punta Gorda, Florida was listed in 2019 as having “habitual felony offender status,’’ when he was sentenced to 25 months for grand theft, according to court records with the Clerk of Circuit Court in Charlotte County, Florida.

Townsend, 36, also has been convicted of fraud by identity theft, trafficking in property known to be stolen, use or possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, court records show.

From what WLJ posted, I imagine he will treasure the bragging rights of getting hit by Mike Tyson as much as anything else.

He wants Mike to pay

Quote
The man former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson fought on a JetBlue flight in April 2022 is demanding financial compensation, which the boxer views as a "shakedown."

A lawyer representing Melvin Townsend sent Tyson’s lawyers a "pre-litigation settlement demand" for "injuries and damages" his client suffered on the flight from San Francisco to Florida. The demand is $450,000, according to The New York Post.
