I remember someone was looking for a 32bit version of Linux

that was still supported but I can't find the thread right now so I can't find the exact details of what you were looking for so maybe this will work.
Peppermint OS has both 32 and 64 bit versions has has very light HW requirements

LMDE6 also still has a 32-bit version (or did very recently).

Playing with it right now.
The clean ver of the 64bit install is only using 800mb of ram

note: Kept getting a boot loader error during install but it went away when I enable the wifi before clicking install. Guess it installed a fix during installation

Has both 32 and 64 bit versions

Min requirements

Plasma desktop - 1GHz CPU / 1GB RAM / 5GB disk
Trinity desktop - 350MHz CPU / 256MB RAM / 3GB disk
