Not sure where to put this…
« on: December 11, 2024, 08:34:24 PM »
I got a call from a retired lawyer I used to duck hunt with years ago.
It was interesting. He didn’t identify himself and was talking as soon as I answered. It took me a few to realize who I was talking to. And what it was about.
After a minute of listening (felt like 30) I asked just what this is about?
He said, “I assume you would be comfortable around conservative republicans?”
Intrigued, I said “I’m comfortable around almost anyone.”
He said he wanted to invite me and my wife to a celebration buffet at the former country club (now private). A celebration I asked? He said yes a “party for the win”.
My wife said “no” but used more words that sounded bad.
I am going.
Food, cocktails, or whatever. This is a small town. I have to go just to see who else is there, right?
What we have here is failure to communicate.

Nah she’s fine with it. But she really doesn’t like polarizing conversation and would rather just avoid  it all. Her best friend and all of her siblings are very liberal. They all know where I stand but they probably don’t know her views for certain.

I can see that but sounds like there wouldn't be much in the way of polarizing conversation at a Trump won party as anyone who's on the opposite side of things more than likely won't be there.

Small town, means small town politics.

There's always a limited number of power players in small towns. It's no coincidence, that the local government picked Johns Construction co. for the new fire station; John has been best friends with half the board of trustees since high-school.

Make sure this party, doesn't put you in " wrong small town group ".  =|

Word always gets around for things like that in a small town.  Her friends would likely find out.
