Vermont Man Shoots Home Intruder with Muzzleloader
« on: February 17, 2024, 11:13:44 AM »
Not much to this story, but using a muzzleloader for home defense isn't something you see everyday.

Vt. homeowner shot man allegedly trying to break in, police say

Quote
Vermont state police say Gordon Richard, Sr., 75, told investigators that three armed men tried to break into his home through a locked interior door from a separate section of the residence where his son lives. Richard told police he shot one of the men with a muzzleloader, shut the door and called 911.

Trump won in 2016. Democrats haven't been so offended since Republicans came along and freed their slaves.

Oh, goodie.  They now have excuses for:

(A) banning single shot weapons of war

(B) muzzle-loading assault rifles and shotguns

I am a bit surprised we haven't already seen someone use a cap & ball revolver in recent years.  I guess the odds are low of that happening to the right person.

A few years ago I read a report from somewhere of a man who carried a cap-and-ball revolver for self-defense because of some nuance to the laws where he lived that a cap-and-ball firearm didn't fall under the law for requiring a permit to carry.

Oh, there was a thread somewhere recently --may have been here --where someone inquired whether a prohibited person could carry a muzzleoading revolver for protection.  Upshot, "probably," but not concealed.  Probably the 975th time the question was brought up somewhere.  I don't remember whether the point that many places define even slingshots as "weapons" was brought  up.

Didn't transition to the bayonet or sword. Weak.

I'm so contrarian that I didn't respond to the thread.

That would be to the Bowie Knife.

I hope my obituary has this as the last line:

We had some jackass at TFL some years ago who signed on just to make some incomprehensible "point" about carrying a black powder revolver for defense.

He lasted about 3 days before he got booted. And each day he was crazier and more abrasive.
