Saw this multiple places.

Vernor Vinge, influential sci-fi author who warned of AI ‘Singularity,’ has died

Never wrote a lot, very worth reading.   He'd basically dropped out of sight after his last novel in 2011.  Turns out, Parkinson's Disease.
In thy presence is fulness of joy.
At thy right hand pleasures for evermore.

He was very visionary with computer technology.

The usual problem with predicting the future is that people overestimate the impact of technology in the short term and underestimate it over the long term. I feel like vinge didn't fall into that trap as much.
Maybe a rare occurence, but then you only have to get murdered once to ruin your whole day.
