What do you call this vise thingy (video is queued to it) that lets you line stuff up and square it? I want one.

Muchas grassyass!

HF doesn't seem to sell them, so thirty ducats at the Amazon seems reasonable.

Plus with Amazon you may actually get a 90 degree clamp and not the 87 degree clamp you could possibly get from HF. ;)

HF does have magnetic corner jigs.  They are pretty cheap but I've never actually used one for welding.  You'd probably remove it after tacking the parts together so you don't overheat the magnets.

I've owned and used the magnetic corner jigs for years.  Not real impressed with them, they sorta work.  They're OK for something like I'm building now - just a large bin/shelf thing to hold scrap metal.  Not sure I'd use them for anything precise.

ETA:  I also have one of the clamps in the OP.  It's much better for precision work.  Could have sworn I bought it at HF.  It has been decades though, they must have quit carrying it.

I have some and also find that they kinda sorta work. One of the reasons I'm looking at the weightier vise thingamajiggy.  =)

There's your problem.  You're looking for a thingamajiggy when it's actually a whatchamacallit.

Oh man. The woke language changes have even hit the manly endeavor of welding!

Welded metal braces?  Seems rather expensive and heavy to me.  You could do the same with an assortment of PVC pipes and parts that could be taken apart and put in a duffel or gym bag.  Number the "T"s and straight sections so you keep straight where they join (Tab "A" in Slot "B").
Lightweight, easy to carry and assemble, and cheap.

Glad to be of disservice.
