Don't worry, your cell phone is picking up the slack

My toaster is a waste as far as making toast. At least it's good for something.

The Unsubscribed Podcast had a guy on recently talking about tracking down people using cell phone data.  He mentioned looking up a guy who claimed in an Op Ed he witnessed genocide in Gaza.  He knew his professional and home address and which state based on internet searches.  He bought meta data for that state for a period of time.  He was able to narrow his list down to phones closely associated with those two addresses and came up with his phone as well as phones flagged as associated.  He could tell from the location data the guy hadn't been anywhere near Gaza in recent years.  I think he said the meta data package he bought was $13K or something like that.

Eventually they are either going to make all that data fully public or simple say the data still belongs to the user no matter who "collects" it so they can't sell the individual info.  I tend to doubt they will be able to eliminate the tracking at all.  Maybe if we one day get to all satellite internet and cell comms, it would make close tracking harder (or easier).

He very well might have witnessed genocide in Gaza.

He might have seen Hamas killing hostages.

Oh, wait, silly me, that's not genocide.

When the left started using the word genocide to describe not using the "correct" pronouns and not allowing social workers and doctors to mutilate children against their parents wishes the word lost all meaning in the same way racism has.
