What is happening in Aurora?

Over the past several days I've seen video of reported Venezuelan gangs storming apartment buildings in CO and taking them over.

Now the Mayer of Aurora is saying at least two buildings have been completely taken over, the property managers have been pushed out, and gangs are collecting rent?!?

I guess the apartments were filled with other Venezuelan "migrants" who are probably used to these guys, so just rolled with it, but where the *expletive deleted*ck is local SWAT?  State Police? ICE? He'll, from the tactics and kit I've seen in the videos, 1 or 2 fireteams of those scary white supremacist militias could fix this, but the response from Coloradans seems to be to wr8ng their hands and clutch their pearls to the news.

This may be just a wild guess but I imagine if resident status of the gun owners were checked they just might find out they are prohibited from owning guns in the US. But that would take someone who really wants to enforce the gun laws and not some one who wants to use the armed newcomers as another reason to push for gun control among the law abiding.

Apparently the Governor is saying this is all in the imagination of a local official.

Colorado Gov. Jared Polis dismissed anger over Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua taking over apartment buildings in the Denver suburb of Aurora, calling it “imagination” — despite video footage, police reports and the city’s mayor confirming it’s happening.

Polis’ press office offered the snarky statement Wednesday night in response to Aurora City Councilwoman Danielle Jurinsky — who told The Post the gang’s takeovers are tied to his policies.

“The Governor has already let the Mayor know that the State is ready to support the local police department with assistance from state troopers and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation if needed,” Shelby Wieman, a spokesperson for the Democratic governor, told The Post.

“But, according to police intelligence this purported invasion is largely a feature of Danielle Jurinsky’s imagination.”

Also, he seems to be threatening her with legal action.

"If Danielle Jurinsky has evidence of illegal activity in Aurora that can assist the investigation, it might even be illegal for her to withhold it from the Aurora Police Department and she should file a report immediately. The state has been ready for weeks to back up any operation by the Aurora Police Department needed to make Aurora safer," the statement concluded.

It seems as if the trend of industrious new immigrants following the American Dream to become Landlords *may* have spread to parts of Chicago.  I say "may" because so far it's just interent posts.  I haven't seen videos of the Venezuelans in Chi-town, and the Mayor hasn't released a statement saying your racist for asking, both of which IME is good evidence that it's actually happening.

Massively underrated movie.  So much better than Sly's '90's Dredd, and Lena Heady was a great villain.  Would have loved a sequel to that one.

I think part of the problem was when it was released as by that time people were sick and tired of the doom and gloom movies going into 2012 and were migrating to more uplifting type movies and what Marvel was putting out and it got overlooked.

Sly's Judge Dredd (1995) was a okay popcorn movie but lack any real depth and was hard to take seriously as it didn't take and thus portray the character and the world in which he inhabited seriously. I would in fact describe it as silly. The 2012 version had far greater depth and had the necessary seriousness both he and his world demanded.

My understanding is that the majority of the gangsters here are anti-Maduro. However, related to the US stealing Maduro's plane, it was suggested that Maduro might be making "peace" inroads with these gangs, and if he does, he has an infiltration force already in the US to use as part of any retaliation.

The problem is the political entities condoning the "problem" and the fact they will come down hard on anyone stepping up to take on the duty they have abdicated.
