My favorite role of hers was as Nora Charleston in Murder by Death.

Absolutely fantastic movie.

First time I remember her in a movie role was Clash of the Titans. Mostly I remember Ursula Andress, but whatever...

She certainly took the role of Professor McGonagal and made it her own.

RIP, good Lady.

One of the first movies that she starred in that I remember was "The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie".  That she was a redhead didn't hurt either.
Unfortunately, at that age, I was more interested in the young Pamela Franklin.  ;/  =D
She was also the Mother Superior in both of the "Sister Act" movies, Mrs. Medlock in the updated 1993 version of "The Secret Garden", and "Granny Williams" in the Robin Williams movie "Hook".  So many memorable movies and characters.
