Found a video of a nice Chinese guy working on an MPV... He has a lift, which helps, but if you have more time than money, and can crawl on the ground like a lizard, you can make a lot of stuff happen. Hard part will be supporting the engine/transaxle when you lift the front end off... He's removing the half shafts, not sure you'd need to deal with that if you can just drop the whole drivetrain assembly. You can rent the stuff for a gantry crane to lift the front end. Tool-wise, you'll need a set of wrenches (not the much $$), and I'd get a decent set of sockets/ratchet ($100) with another $50 or so for ratchet extensions, etc.... This guy has air, but you could get away with about $300 worth of Harbor Freight impact and power ratchet (probably don't really need the power ratchet, but I don't know how I ever lived without a battery impact). But you can use a regular muscle-powered ratchet, etc...

Okay - On this one, the dude just dropped the tranny. Might actually be simpler to just do the combination.
