A Nice Low Speed / High Drag Chest Rig
« on: October 31, 2024, 08:50:33 AM »
I recently purchased a micro chest rig that I think is a really great and cost effective option for us low speed/high drag guys - the Acetac SOP Micro Chest Rig. I discovered it via an Iron Infidel video.

https://www.acetacgear.com/collections/chest-rigs/products/sop-micro-chest-rig?variant=43266736357534

Its design is very similar to the Haley Strategic rig, but $90 vs $370 as configured. While not seeing one in person, I'm certain the Haley rig is tighter construction, but the Acetac seems to have very well done stitching, and seems very solid, at least for the one week I've had it.

I also have the Condor Recon chest rig, and it's a steal for the price, but it is just so BIG. I find that I would rather just wear a plate carrier without plates than use the full size chest rig. This micro rig is just the right size for me, and holds anything a Minuteman would need when using the wings and hanger. I just ran a 100-7 drill with it yesterday. I didn't have it full, but had three mags in the placard and IFAK stuff in the pouch. It almost felt like it wasn't there when shooting prone, and nothing gets in the way when manipulating a rifle.

I'm actually thinking of stripping it down to just the placard for range use and removing the wings and hangar, because the main placard has plenty of room for me, including a couple of outer pistol mag/TQ pockets.

Anyway, for anyone who doesn't need the "professional" tier, I can highly recommend this micro rig. A nice little rig for training or keeping next to the home defense rifle.

Thanks.  I a couple items stashed somewhere, but none are really good.

So low-speed it's not even available in Kryptec.

Yeah, does seem OK.  I only ask because some of those cheaper dies are actually like NIR reflectors for some reason.  I had some old Amazon grade pouches that might as well be beacons under NODS.

Ironically, even the "Cheap Airsoft" soft gear has had to adress this because so many mil-sim guys run real night vision.  Somewhere between Gen 1 and Gen 2 of the cheap Airsoft Combat pants they got a whole lot better in that aspect.

THat actually looks like a decent little kit, especially if you wanted something extra to throw in your truck and leave there.  Amazon shows it in grey, which would be pretty low key and not scary under a jacket if one were concerned about walking around people and not being the "shoot me first" guy.

I'm thinking about either the current one, or buying a second one, specifically as vehicle kit.

So FYI, I might suggest ordering direct from Acetac. I ordered from Amazon (sold by Acetac, shipped by Amazon), and the first one came without the wings or SWAG stickers. Which, I don't care about the stickers, but it was an indication that maybe there was some monkey business between leaving the Acetac factory and the Amazon warehouse. I immediately ordered a replacement, which came with all included accessories. From a few of the Amazon reviews, I wasn't the only one who had some missing items.

My build is pretty much stereotypical Low Speed / High Drag, so that rig is perfect for me.
