I'm seeing a bunch of talk about "the democrat filibuster is going to save us". Someone correct me if I'm misremembering, but didn't the dems want to kill the filibuster?
Absolutely they wanted to kill it. Harry Reid unpacked the "nuclear option" to deal with a bunch of stuff that the Republicans were holding up, primarily Federal court judicial nominees.
That was great then. That was forwarding the progress of Democracy, liberty, blah blah blah.
But then, when the Republicans were in charge and they showed that two can play at that game, the Democrats went absolutely *expletive deleted*ing mental. The crying, whining, screeching, and screaming was just so delicious to hear from the left.
Republicans got the ultimate nuclear option revenge when they changed Senate rules to confirm Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court on a simple majority vote.
The Democrats sewed the wind... but they got absolutely reaped by the whirlwind of their creation.
Of course, that could come back to haunt the Republicans sometime in the future. But the current make up of the Supreme Court -- a Constitutionalist Court and not a Constructionist Interpretation Court, is going to throttle the Democrats for another 30 years.
I've said it here before in years past, the Republican Party should erect an ENORMOUS statue to Harry Reid as a monumental *expletive deleted*ck you to Schumer and Company.
