Figured I'd start a new thread since the election is over, to cover the incoming administration. Direction, appointments, etc.

So far I have been happy with, or at least not had heartburn, over Trump's appointments. The first one that has popped up that I'm not sure of is Rubio for SECSTATE. Rubio has always seemed pretty establishment, even RINO to me. Maybe I've missed something, but I would have thought there were better choices available. I'm also not sure about Noem for Homeland Security Secretary. Her background (again, maybe I missed something) doesn't seem to align with that job.

I'm also hoping he doesn't *expletive deleted*it on the "big tent" direction he has been hyping, and gives Tulsi Gabbard a position that fits for her and that also energizes the voters that voted for him because of her and the other red pilled people that brought him big voting blocks. While nothing seems to be officially announced, RFK looks to be getting a job that will have the approval of the MAHA voters.

With the impending shut down of ATF, Fed.gov canine shooting will be moved to DHS?

I can't pull up Twitter at work, but people were talking about that yesterday and he was taking polls on what to do.  I need to look up Twitter links later.

I was just mentioning to SWMBO that Noem would not be a bad fit for a minor appointment, like Dept of the Interior or even further down as Director of Bureau of Indian Affairs. She already has a relationship with a few tribes.  >:D

I have some concerns that Trump is pulling people out of the Congress. I just hope the people he names are from states or districts where their replacements will be reliably conservative Republicans.

It was announced a few minutes ago that Trump has tapped Pete Hegseth to be Secretary of Defense.

Hegseth is an Army veteran.

But, more deliciously... he's been a Fox News contributor and host for a number of years...

That is super unexpected. He seems like a nice guy, but I don't know about experience. He has done a lot with Veterans Affairs. I know he did at least a couple of tours in the ME and got out I think an O-4.

I'm still not sure that Hegseth is the right choice, or that he's not a sacrificial lamb for the first round of confirmations for the person Trump really wants there, but holy hell lefties.

The left is complaining that defense lobbyists are unhappy with the the selection?!? The same defense lobbyists that the left always says (or I guess used to say) are enemies of the people? I say again, holy hell. The lobbyists should consider themselves lucky that he picked Hegseth instead of Gabbard, as she would stomp them into the ground.

There's a couple of similar things I saw where they are noting statements by him, like that the US government creates and releases covid variations. I watch Fox and Friends every weekend. He said most all the things they are accusing him of saying. As jokes. There's plenty of video that anyone with half a brain can watch for context.

They have done this same thing with Trump. He tells some joke and they all blast it as a serious statement.

Thune is the new Senate Majority leader. I don't recall much about him other than he and Trump apparently butted heads a lot the last time around but have since buried the hatchet. I think Trump wanted Rick Scott.
