Gaetz has been on Timcast IRL a couple times, and from what I've heard, I like his ideas.  He tends to talk li,e Congress is a corrupt cesspool that tries actively to not accomplish anything.

He's also VERY critical of the DOJ's handling of Jan 6, and I think his nomination as AG is a good sign Trump plans to fix that horseshit early on.  I would expect to see Federal investigations into Antifa, and their funders as well.

According to a Benny Johnson video, the FBI ran him through the ringer investigating something based on a "whistleblower".  I wasn't aware of that.  Apparently nothing came of it, but he doesn't have a high opinion of them. 

For me, I don't really care if Gaetz has courtroom experience as that job covers a lot of ground outside of that.  The things I want to fix with the federal prosecutors and FBI is what they do outside the courtroom or what they do to people outside the courtroom.  The process is the punishment, but it shouldn't be.  Merrick Garland has a lot of courtroom experience, but IMO, he is a horrible AG.

Trey Gowdy was all hat and no cattle. He replaced "Do Nothing" Daryl Issa on the House Oversight committee and came in breathing smoke and fire. Results? Nada. Just like Issa.

And James Comer doesn't seem to be doing much better - even Hannity doesn't talk much about him any more.

IMO, the biggest problem they will have is where to start. 

The biggest cuts won't be in what they are spending money on, but how much administrative cost is going into it.  For every dollar going out in benefits or funding, how much is being eaten up by administrative people who add little utility to the process.  There is probably a huge head count of redundant managers and executives (each with assistants and secretaries) who could be cut.  Without any pressure to spend less, I imagine there is a lot of redundant headcount and money wasted on unnecessary stuff.

I recall in the 1980's hearing that Welfare and Social Security were criticized for only having 25% of every dollar actually going out to people getting benefits.  I imagine that is worse now.

I understand why he did it, but I don't think he's going to be confirmed. As TOM pointed out his practical experience is very thin and he's not exactly broadly popular in his own party.

I don't think he's going to get the support to become AG.

He'd have better served by refusing the appointment and staying in Congress in my opinion.

Speculation is that Trump will (assuming SotH goes along) issue recess appointments if the Senate won't play ball.

Okay, lets say just for a moment just for the purposes of a thought experiment the nazis didn't mass murder the Jews and you removed them from the equation. That would still leave millions of other people they mass murdered. How do they explain that away?
