I have some concerns that Trump is pulling people out of the Congress. I just hope the people he names are from states or districts where their replacements will be reliably conservative Republicans.

Similar concern thoughts, but he seems to be able to point-shoot accurately this time around.

I defended the hell out of Tulsi Gabbard when she switched parties and almost everybody was concerned about her "true" intentions.  I suspect if he chooses her for something, he's got some ideas in mind with respect to "targeting" the incredibly strong statist politics in her former State pf Hawaii.

He's a "Patton," for sure -- a high compliment on my part.

I might get back on 2ahawaii.com for a while to see what's cookin'.  I know they've been forced to moderate some of their anti-2A garbage from powers "on high," but I'd like to see more change from the powers "below," that is, the people.

Thune is the new Senate Majority leader. I don't recall much about him other than he and Trump apparently butted heads a lot the last time around but have since buried the hatchet. I think Trump wanted Rick Scott.

From what I've seen, he's pretty much a McConnell wannabe, just younger.  Pretty lousy pick in my opinion.  And pretty much what can be expected from beltway establishment Republicans.

For you Democrats that claim decorated veteran Pete Hegseth is not qualified to be SecDef: I say your Commander in Chief is about as qualified for HIS position as a wet sock puppet.
Trump won in 2016. And again in 2024. Democrats haven't been so offended since Republicans came along and freed their slaves.

Breaking: Matt Gaetz for Attorney General. Tulsi Gabbard as Director of National Intelligence.

I am not sure about Gaetz. He has a complicated history. Gabbard deserved a key role, and I think this is a good one. Combined with other intel/defense picks so far, I think it gives Trump a good perspective of viewpoints. I'm kinda hoping Tulsi immediately puts Harris on the Quiet Skies list.  =D

I think Tulsi as DNI is a good pick. Gaetz I have some reservations about in that position.

That almost makes me wonder if Mike Johnson is begging to get him out of the House.  Matt is one that has been putting pressure on him.

My problem is that I don't know who to believe. Did he really do slimy stuff, or is he being railroaded by the cancel clowns and MSM? At least regarding personal stuff. I guess some on the R side in Congress like that he takes a hard line kiboshing stuff, and others don't.

I think that depends on each individual state.  Some hold special elections, in others the governor appoints the replacement.  There may be some other methods, as well.

Gaetz has already resigned from congress. He must feel pretty sure he's getting confirmed.

Didn't Trump say he was going to rely on recess appointments for most of the new cabinet positions and office holders?

In FL, the Gov appoints a replacement to finish his term.

Sorry, that's for US Senators.  For a Rep, we'll hold a special election.  That's probably why he resigned so early, so we can get the election done before the new Congress is sworn in.

Gaetz has been on Timcast IRL a couple times, and from what I've heard, I like his ideas.  He tends to talk li,e Congress is a corrupt cesspool that tries actively to not accomplish anything.

He's also VERY critical of the DOJ's handling of Jan 6, and I think his nomination as AG is a good sign Trump plans to fix that horseshit early on.  I would expect to see Federal investigations into Antifa, and their funders as well.

Trey Gowdy was all hat and no cattle. He replaced "Do Nothing" Daryl Issa on the House Oversight committee and came in breathing smoke and fire. Results? Nada. Just like Issa.

And James Comer doesn't seem to be doing much better - even Hannity doesn't talk much about him any more.

My opinion is Gaetz is not a great choice for AG.  He passed the bar exam in 2008, worked in a civil law firm for like 18 months, then headed to Congress in 2010.  I'd prefer that the top prosecutor in the country have more experience in a courtroom than my shoes have.

Personally I don't think that's a very good move for him.

Personally I don't think that's a very good move for him.

It's so that DeSantis can get the special election going.  It takes about 8 weeks for his district to get through the special primary to the election, and they want to seat the new guy ASAP.

It might end up being bad for him personally, but he's betting on the team.

I understand why he did it, but I don't think he's going to be confirmed. As TOM pointed out his practical experience is very thin and he's not exactly broadly popular in his own party.

I don't think he's going to get the support to become AG.

He'd have better served by refusing the appointment and staying in Congress in my opinion.

Wow, the reddits today is more upset about the Gabbard selection than even the Gaetz one. "Traitor", "loser", "Putin now has a soldier in the highest levels of the US gov".

It kinda cracks me up because she's an even better real world example than Elon of the "I was just standing here" cartoon. Also, Hillary should really be in prison for all the "Russia" manipulation that she has done.
