Let us welcome the newcomers, but do not tell them about you-know-what.  :-X

Rest assured we will not tell them about you-know-what.  We didn't tell you about you-know-what, so why would we tell the new guys?
The only thing we must tell them is that everything is fistful's fault.  Or Perd's fault, since you legally changed your name.
Hey, new guys!  Everything that goes wrong on the forum is fistful's fault.  Or Perd's fault.  That is by default.
If there really was intelligent life on other planets, we'd be sending them foreign aid.

Conservatives see George Orwell's "1984" as a cautionary tale.  Progressives view it as a "how to" manual.

You know that is not true. The member culpability study has now found 3, possibly 4, things that are not my fault, which you very well know.

You know what what?

Doncha just love it when a poster assumes everybody's up to date on their mind reading Rx?

It's so high school singsong "I know something you don't know." <nosethumb>

OMG ... Thanks for the PMs ... I will definitely keep that "secret" now  ;) ... LOL

My departure of THR after 15 years coincided with unexpected passing of a friend from a heart attack and he was my age.  And I have been dealing with a mountain of goodbye PMs that had me in quite an emotional state.

Actually, I had initially planned on just lurking on APS until some things like grieving for friend's passing settled down but many THR members suggested I post on APS with them migrating over/lurking so I decided to post.

I guess it's time for me to relax and turn on my "sense of humor" ... Looks like I indeed made the right choice by leaving "stuffy" THR and coming to APS.

Oh, and I think some anti-Trump moderators/admin/members are having a meltdown over Trump's "surprising" win and are taking it out/venting on some pro-Trump members ... So "High Road" of them.

Thank you for the welcome.

So the new/returning guys are old farts too? This place is turning into geriatric central.

Me and the other young guys here are getting really tired of listening to your ache and pain complaints, "walked ten miles in the snow barefoot" stories, "All we needed in my day was an M1 Garand and a .38 Special" rants, "They stopped making good cars in 1968" rants, "I like to use a check register" advice, "Who is Joe Rogan?" questions, "The Internet is a fad and what's a meme?" comments,  and general "Get off my lawn" grumpiness.

It's all just too much for us young guys here to take. We need to create a "Geritol Buddies" subforum here for the old guys to shuffle off to with their "In my day" crap and leave the rest of the forum for us younger bros. You old guys are a real downer, man.

You and me both.  BTW, nice to see you!  =)

I actually was planning to lurk for years like I did at THR before deciding to post (I was active at other forums/boards at that time) but many THR members PMed urging me to continue posting here ... So I started with this "Hello" thread.

Unlike my posting at THR that was focused on technical and in-depth work, I think my posting here will be relaxing and lighthearted to ease into retirement.

So my first thread is refocusing on "Living Life" not according to demands of the world/society rather what our hearts desire and realizations we have made during our life experience - https://armedpolitesociety.com/index.php?topic=70240.0

And my intent for my stay here is not to be a "burden" rather "benefit" to take the pressure of harsh realities of life off so we can ENJOY living life=)

Hello.

Another new member migrating from THR.

I was "LiveLife" - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?search/5478717/&c[users]=LiveLife&o=date

Already liking and enjoying the threads and look forward to spending my retirement here.  =)

BTW, I am supporter of Oleg Volk and reason why I came to APS from THR instead of fading into afterlife.

Welcome to APS.

You young guys (some as young as Ben) get tired of hearing stories like how the first 4473s were on mimeographed forms distributed to dealers, but we get tired of discussions  about re-re-re-treatments ("spinoffs") of old-old-old TV and movie plots offered as "new" on a firearms site.  There must be four or five versions of the "I Have What You Need" plot floating around by now.  Old is new if you're as young as Ben with a memory system that only goes back a few years to Mom hollering to "Put your toys away, Ben!"

I still think the AR-style of shoulder arms are an ergonomic disaster, but it's apparently been drilled into some folks (some as young as Ben) by Drill Sergeants that the protuberated AR monstrosities they carry are slick and smooth and delicious like butter.

Oh, and is the bolt-assist copout still required to ensure those not-perfectly clean varmint rounds  can be chambered in a not-perfectly clean chamber?

Me go now.

I am 58 and went through Boot Camp in 1985 as a teenager at 19 with M16 and our unit's armory was still receiving "new in box" pristine 1911s before Beretta M9 switch.

After Army, shooting USPSA matches with Vietnam vet shooters (Like my dad) and coworkers who were issued M14; shooting out to 1000 yards will definitely give preferential nod to Springfield Armory M1A over AR-15.  Even my Saiga chambered in .308 with 16" heavy barrel (Shorter heavy barrel produced better barrel harmonics than longer 20" barrel) was more capable out to 600-800 yards than my Bushmaster 20" HBAR (Or 20" heavy barrel NHM-91 AK).

But things changed with DMR spec AR-15s and when I saw YT video 8 years ago of shooting milk jugs at 1000 yards with AR-15s and 18" .223 Wylde barrels, I switched all my 16"/18"/20" builds from 5.56 NATO to .223 Wylde heavy barrel/fluted barrel and from 55 gr to 69/75 gr - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W0Q2AUqO5nI

And now, they are shooting milk jugs at 1200-1500 yards with their AR-15s - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sOumuAb1KEQ

Me go now.
After becoming a fan of 1911 in the Army and later Sig P226 due to X-Files (FBI issue weapon), my initial response to handling Glock 17 was, "What? Who would make a gun out of plastic?  That's crazy.  This fad will not last."

Fast forward several years shooting USPSA with 1911/P226 then Glocks ... I shoot over 120,000 rounds through my first Glock 17 and "thinking" I wore the rifling out, sold it to another match shooter.  He tests for accuracy and wow, it's still accurate and continues to shoot it for matches.

I am still fan of "all metal" 1911s/Sig and bought railed Sig 1911 XO when I couldn't buy one of 350 Dan Wesson 1911 PM7 they make for CA each year.  But also "appreciate" the utility of Glock/M&P "polymer" pistols.  =)

And there's even "all metal" M&P option now - https://www.smith-wesson.com/product/m-p-9-m2.0-metal

I’ve been considering an RIA stk or a shadow systems mr920p as alternatives to a glock but still with all the glockiness. My next pistol will have an optic sight.

I can recommend the Shadow Systems for a guchi Glock without the Gucci. The upgrades you would likely do anyway, but you're not paying $2000 for something like an Agency. I'm super happy with my XR920 Combat for daily carry, especially with the 1911-like grip and really high beavertail to get my hand way up  to the axis. The Foundation series is a really good value, and all SS guns come with a super easy and strong optic mount.
