As mentioned in the healthcare CEO thread, who wants to ever help strangers in a city ever again? I wouldn't hesitate to help anyone where I live and in probably most of the country, but these big blue cities can go straight to hell. I feel bad for the innocent victims, but no good Samaritan deserves to go through what Penny is going through, even if he's found not guilty.

Interestingly, they could have gone for a mistrial and tried again if they hadn't played games.  By the prosecutor asking for (and getting one w/ prejudice) a dismissal of the Manslaughter charge, this acquittal means he's off clean and they can't bring more charges.

Jordan Neely's father escorted out of the room following verdict after outburst

Neely's father Andre Zachary was escorted out of the room after Penny was acquitted of negligent homicide.

His partner then told Penny: 'you're a racist fu****g c**t.'

BLM activist Walter "Hawk" Newsome was also escorted out after he appeared to threaten Penny, saying 'it's a small fu***ng world, buddy.'

I read that also. I also read he had a go fund me that topped out over 3 million. The dad probably knew that also so he just wants the money.

Penny’s defense counsel argued that the chokehold didn’t kill Neely, claiming Neely’s health issues and drug use led to his death. The state argued that, even if Penny’s initial actions were laudable, he broke the law by continuing to hold Neely after Neely was no longer a threat. Penny didn’t realize that Neely was also a person whose life needed protecting, the prosecutor told the jury.
