Speaker Mike Johnson (or not)
« on: December 30, 2024, 04:02:06 PM »
Man, I hate this. I get that these Rs are "standing up for their principals", and in many ways, support their agenda. But what a terrible, horrible, time to do it. Having a fight over the House speaker right now or any time in the next few months could be disastrous regarding getting things that we voted Trump back in for, done.

The next six months are crucial for steamrolling through on items with voter approval momentum. Having a fight over the Speaker is just a terrible idea right now. I may not understand all the nuance, but I think I can say that Republican Speaker of the House is about the last job in the world I would want. The dem Speaker never seems to have these kinds of issues among democrats.

Oh thank God!

For a second I was worried that the Republicans were finally going to stop *expletive deleted*ing around and actually stop in fighting and present a united front given what the American people just handed them.

So happy to see that those fucktardic aholes have learned not one goddamned thing since the end of the Reagan presidency and continue to hand the Democrats nicely wrapped gifts on silver platters.

Except, he seems to be thinking that Johnson won't actually do any of that.  If so, a little infighting is appropriate to either put someone else in there or get him to change directions a bit.
If all politicians are getting along it is usually not good for us.

And Johnson was voted in as Speaker anyway.
