Calif Wins the U-Haul Challenge Again
« on: January 05, 2025, 08:13:39 AM »
Calif, for the 5th year in a row, is #1 for one-way U-haul rentals.

I am really thankful that Idaho is finally off the "moving to" top five. We have grown way too fast in the last few years.

You see who’s #1 on the move to list though? They are *expletive deleted*ing up my state bad.

Locusts.

And I should not the liberals love to mock the five states on the list as being “bottom in living conditions and education” yet they can’t move here fast enough

Damn, Pennsylvania is near the bottom of the list as well.

That's likely because it's tried very hard over the past couple of election cycles to become the California of the East Coast.

It's been VERY strange to see PA waffle back and forth on how people are voting at the state and federal level.

They are coming here to save us from our ignorant, racist dystopian hellscape.  Just ask them.

I’m surprised Illinois isn’t one of the bottom 5. We strive to be last or worst in everything.

I would guess that Philly is the main reason for the PA exodus... All the big cities are dying...

Here in NV we took a 24 position tumble. I guess the ones not here yet have heard how the ones coming here year after year from the Golden State have already screwed it up to the point you either get to live in the sticks or California East. Now thankfully they have found paradise in Eagle, ID and they are telling all of their friends. :)

Actually Eagle is always in the news here over "those right wing extremists in Eagle". I think they are getting more retired CA cops there than in CdA now. Though it's also one of the most expensive places in Idaho to live. Lots of homes right at seven figures.

Spokane is number twenty four

Spokane became pretty popular during the pandemic. A lot of people from the wet side discovered how much cheaper it was than the the Seattle area so they moved over to work remotely. If I had spent an extra year in my house I could have probably made an extra 100K. Spokane is a very nice place to live, four seasons, lots of outdoor activities, good colleges, decent medical and close to even more outdoor stuff in ID and MT. I was tired of the cold and snow in the winter and it really aggravated SWMBO's arthritis so we moved south.

I'm tempted by CdA.  Close to medical services in Spokane, greener than Spokane (I mean the vegetation), and not under the thumb of Olympia.

A guy I know, we will call him a friend of a friend with way too much money went to California this year and bought an airplane. He pulled the wings off and rented a Uhaul to bring it home to Kansas. He didn't read the fine print. They do not do one way and drop off at a local Uhaul for that trailer. They wouldn't sell it to him, so he had to deadhead all the way back to California in his 8 mile per gallon drag car hauler.

Had we not moved to a warmer climate we would have gone to Idaho even though as a general rule it gets more snow than Spokane. We would have probably gone to Post Falls, Rathdrum, Hayden or Athol. There are some nice places near Silverwood on the road between Hayden and Athol.

Virginia has dropped to 17, down from 10.

I can only assume that means that we've finally instituted border controls here in Northern Virginia to keep Maryland liberals from overpopulating.

Oh, wait, Virginia keeps going for frigging Democrats. I guess we didn't close the door to the idiot bin quickly enough.

No, it just means you've reached saturation.

They made VA too much like their home state. NC is their new target.

Everyone I know that wants to leave WA, is conservative. Hardcore. They do not want to live under the yoke.

So the old "liberals move to a conservative  place and screw it up" may not be as accurate as it used to be.

IMO, people are no longer moving for climate or scenery or jobs , as much as they are moving for political reasons. People are moving to places where they feel protected.
