My neighborhood is VERY skinny jeans gentrified liberal.
 
They are VERY upset that the side streets, much less the alleys, have not been plowed. Some of the more privileged are inquiring as to the availability of snow removal experts.
 
Most of 'em are just waiting for someone to do something.
 
The City never plows the side streets, barring presence of a politician or chief...

Except that sooner or later someone is going to come up with "So, lets do a new tax..."

How the heck do you plow an alley?  Sounds like a great way for all the fences along the alley to get destroyed.

In 1967 when Chicago had it's infamous "Big Snow" the city eventually got around to clearing the alleys - they used a big front end loader and hauled the snow out, scoop by scoop, to the end of the alley to a waiting truck. Somewhere I have some Super 8 movies of this happening.

I don't think you understand the skinny jeans gentrified liberal mind, apart from this specific issue.

They are always looking for a "cause" to put themselves into the "forefront."

The "forefront" of what is immaterial, just "something."

I'm not sure if this is due to "nature or nurture" or a mix thereof, but just knowing that the "cause-seeking" syndrome exists will explain a lot of things.

Oh, I understand it... They're calling for people to boycott open businesses, because it is so damn dangerous for us essential employees to go to work. And they care about us essential employees, because if we're not at work they don't have someone to yell at.
 
Or something. But they're really into virtue signaling and shaming... Because they are superior, and they are staying home and contributing to safety.
 
Except for, well, calling Doordash and taking Ubers to go to the bar or restaurant that they think should be boycotted
...
