Assistant AG Harmeet Dhillon was one of authors of DOJ amicus brief requesting Supreme Court to review Wolford v Lopez - https://armedpolitesociety.com/index.php?topic=70249.msg1473619#msg1473619

BRIEF FOR THE UNITED STATES AS AMICUS CURIAE IN SUPPORT OF PETITIONERS

Department of Justice ...

QUESTION PRESENTED

Whether the Second Amendment allows a State to make it unlawful for concealed-carry license-holders to carry firearms on private property open to the public without the property owner’s express authorization ...

B. The Court Of Appeals’ Decision Warrants Review

1. This Court should grant review because, as eight judges correctly recognized, Hawaii’s law “largely vitiates” Bruen ... and “effectively nullifies” the right to bear arms ... Bruen explained that the Second Amendment secures a “general right to publicly carry arms for self-defense,” but that our regulatory tradition includes restrictions identifying “exceptional circumstances under which one could not carry arms.” ...

2. The Ninth Circuit’s decision independently warrants review because it conflicts with the Second Circuit’s in Antonyuk ...

3. Finally, granting review in this case would allow this Court to provide much-needed guidance to lower courts ...

4. This case is an appropriate vehicle for deciding the question presented and for clarifying “the principles underlying the Second Amendment.” Rahimi ...

CONCLUSION

This Court should grant the petition for a writ of certiorari, limited to the first question presented ...

Not quite "abolishing" ATF but cutting 28% of budget ($468 million) is a step in the right direction of curtailing ATF 👍 - https://armedpolitesociety.com/index.php?topic=70249.msg1473647#msg1473647

"Second Amendment issues are civil rights issues" and gun owners are the latest "minority group" in need of civil rights protection. 👍👍👍

Second Amendment is not a "second class right" and gun owners must not become "second class citizens" as stated by justice Thomas. =)

My guess is Supreme Court is waiting for Duncan to be filed so majority justices can rule on AW and magazine ban cases both with merits decisions.

Next week will be Snope's 14th conference and Ocean State's 15th.

The record is 23.

I don't want to get anyone's hopes up because a denial is still possible, but I think a denial at this point aside from being enraging, would also be bizarre. It does not normally take anywhere near this long for a dissent.

Perhaps they are working on a per curiam. Or perhaps they are waiting on Duncan (no, I don't know when that will be filed). But in either circumstance, why keep relisting? Just take it off weekly conferences until it's time.

Of course they are two of the top bills that I personally want to see passed (suppressors and SBRs).  ;/

And states will keep defying Heller/Caetano/Bruen until the majority justices decides to rule in Snope/Duncan and now Wolford - https://armedpolitesociety.com/index.php?topic=70249.msg1473619#msg1473619

ATF recently issued suppressors to a bunch of their agents. Reason? "Health and safety during training." Hmm - that reasoning sounds familiar.

2nd Amendment Company Tries to Stall the Hearing Protection Act
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8zQVmy2UPg

VSO Gun Channel says he is hearing an NFA company is acting to stall the Hearing Protection Act.  He isn't naming the company at this time.  At the end, he said the bills go for some sort of review next week.  They have until then to reverse course.  He sounds like he is ready to lead a mob to their office.

Part of the hearing protection act holdup is apparently a TN congressman who wants his own bill passed. His bill drops the tax stamp to $5, but keeps suppressors on the registry. According to G&G, he is working with Chris Cox, formerly of NRA/ILA.

https://youtu.be/VChXQ08ILW0

I don't really GAF about a reduced tax if suppressors are still on the registry.

I agree.  Forget $5 tax stamp as suppressors need to come off NFA and be deregulated.

We still have time to pressure the lawmakers and more details and contact phone number at the main thread (Many who called report phones are ringing off the hook according to representatives' staff) - https://armedpolitesociety.com/index.php?topic=70249.msg1474493#msg1474493

This morning, the Washington state Supreme Court released a decision upholding the ban on magazines holding more than ten rounds.

This is the same court that ruled a 3" paring knife was a "dangerous weapon", but not protected by the 2nd because it was not , apparently, dangerous enough.
The statement said the magazine was not a weapon, but a "component" of a firearm.

🚨BREAKING🚨

@WaysandMeansGOP announced an unacceptable compromise to protect the National Firearms Act gun registration for suppressors & short-barreled firearms.

GOA has been working to remove suppressors & SBRs from the NFA by passing the Hearing Protection Act & SHORT Act.

More on the Republican sellout on cans and SBRs from Mrgunsngear:

https://youtu.be/THiDJMkfJAs

Also mentioned in the above video and in other places I have read it, a suppressor manufacturer may be behind parts of this. I haven't heard exactly who, and Mrgunsngear wouldn't say their name, only that they have been getting pressure from gun rights orgs to knock it off.
