When Democrats have lost The Atlantic...
« on: February 05, 2025, 06:46:16 AM »
they have REALLY lost. And even The Hill is dunning them.

2:45 in this clip for the quote from The Atlantic.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9uuCovdGl_0

The whole clip is a good overview of how, after the Dems hit the cliff in November, they've just pushed the accelerator even harder.

I was surprised at The Hill. I have always looked at them as far left, and never paid much attention to them, so only have the experience of the last couple of weeks to go on. Youtube has been hammering me with The Hill clips, and they have almost all been shockingly unbiased, to the point that I give fair consideration to the left-ish viewpoints, and many of the clips even seem a little center of right.

Well, don't forget that now-fired Hill female muppet who predicted Harris would get 760 billion electoral college votes.

She's long gone.

And so unmemorable I can't even remember her name.

It took some searching but it was Nomiki Konst.

She predicted Harris would get 394 electoral college votes.

Her host Robbie Souave laughed at her on air.

She gave Texas to Harris... TEXAS.

And she bought into the Seltzer poll in Iowa.

I wonder if she bought her champagne where that astute political analyst who was going to toast Madam President bought hers?

Yep. Muppet.

Holy crap, just watching the clip again. She said "Democrats pulled out of Texas and Florida" as the reason she gave those states to Harris.... Dems did the same thing in 2016 and it absolutely blew up in their faces.

Insane.

I'm sure there was a lot of self delusion in that but many were pushing it hoping Trump voters would see that and think it's over and stay home.

I've been watching clips from The Hill/Rising, off and on, for years, and they tend to have plenty of red meat for MAGA types. They like to pair right-leaning or libertarian hosts like Saagar Enjeti and Robby Soave with lefty co-hosts.

"Rising" are the ones youtube has been hitting me with. Of the ones I watched, 100% of them were polite and civil discourse vs the contentiousness and screaming at each other that I see on so many other outlets, including Fox. I was impressed.

CNN use to do a show called Crossfire like that back in the day

60 minutes back in the day used to include a Point/Counterpoint segment, usually with James J. Kilpatrick vs. Shana Alexander. This was often spirited, and lampooned on Saturday Night Live (when it was still funny) with Dan Ackroyd vs. Jane Curtain. Dan usually began his SNL talk with "Jane, you ignorant slut . . . "
Trump won in 2016. And again in 2024. Democrats haven't been so offended since Republicans came along and freed their slaves.

Well, in 1800 the vice president of the United States, Thomas Jefferson, was paying media out of his own pocket to savage the sitting president, John Adams.

So... a long time.

It's just that the money has, over time, moved from the back channel to the main stream.

For me, the media stuff is getting to be a minor part of the issue at this point. If half the stuff that they claim to have discovered is true, USAID has been one ginormous and untouchable money laundering entity for a long time. One could even put on the tinfoil and wonder about connections to the CIA and similar agencies.

The BBC thinks you can't have a free press without money from USAID.

From what I hear, that is a big YES.  CIA was using the USAID funding to fund all sorts of things overseas including govt and regime changes.  The statement I heard was the CIA liked working through USAID because the State Department wouldn't play ball with them a lot of the time.  The guy I heard talking said there is not a single legitimate program under USAID.  In return for this slush fund for CIA, it because a slush fund for everyone else who was tied into the system.
