As much flying and driving around he is doing for the DNC, any number of things could happen.  >:D  >:D  [popcorn]
Wouldn't that be horrible for someone so young to be taken from us so soon?   [barf]

I guess the above post doesn't explicitly violate the rules of conduct for APS, but IMHO it's not in keeping with the spirit of this place to express a desire for anyone to experience a serious misfortune. Perhaps the statement was intended to be funny. It's not. I would like to hope that we can be better than this.

Should I have put in the "[sarc]-[/sarc]" labels on it?

;/  ;)

On other forums, green text is often used to denote sarcasm when it might not otherwise be obvious.  I don't know if that's universal or not, or if it really would have helped in this case.

At this point in the process, what counts is name recognition.

FWIW, that's how Bill Clinton got a jump on things to get elected for his first term - there was a bimbo alert, and... people knew his name, so he got listed as a frontrunner, and things went from there.

Obama popped up on the national stage in 2004 by making the keynote speech at the DNC convention. I knew at that moment he would be their choice and likely victor in 2008. And so it happened.

Same here.  I'm sure he made the decision to run some time ago.

No doubt in my mind that he thinks that he's the absolute savior of the Democratic party.

How much you want to bet that his running mate will be AOC or one of the other Squad Members?

The hard left wing of the Democratic party learned absolutely nothing from last November. They actually think that the reason they lost is because they didn't go hard enough left. It's hysterical AND pathetic at the same time.

I know he’s going to run

He’s got the charisma, speech ability, and the left looks at Cali as a model, not a horrible warning.

Whitmire will be the VP choice. Also someone they look at as a model.

AOC is already old enough. I'd be surprised if her, or someone equally shrill/vapid/etc weren't picked.  Until the Democrats are sooo badly baten that they are forced to abandon identity politics, lest they disappear entirely, they will insist on any white male picking someone with intersectional "cred".  Actually, far more likely they'd require both candidates to have a high intersectional score.  And the top of the ticket would be whoever was from the more "oppressed" group.

I'm hoping that the Dems don't set up some poor family member to be a victim of "gun crime," and then see the lead candidate decide to remarry someone LGBTWTF...

It would amuse me if they'd just pick 2 white, male, heterosexual running mates, and say the country is too bigoted to elect anyone else. That's who they should be running, if they really believe their own nonsense.

Electing Obama TWICE only cause them to call the country racist more not less

It's almost as if they expected that Obama's election would mean that no white would ever again be elected, and that so many have been is the equivalent to a racial holocaust.

I'm still waiting for some people on the left to ask, if Trump was an existential threat to our Democracy in 2024, why did we insist on running a non-white, female candidate, in a country that (according to our talking points) hates women and minorities?
