Sounds like the front could fall off one of these ships.

US logistics firm Crowley, which is the operator and joint owner of the MV Stena Immaculate, says the vessel was carrying jet fuel when it was hit by the Solong in the North Sea at approximately 10:00 GMT.

All of its crew of more than 20 are now safe and accounted for - but there are fears that jet fuel is now pouring into the sea.

In a statement, the Florida based company said: “A fire occurred as a result of the allision, and fuel was reported released. The Stena Immaculate crew abandoned the vessel following multiple explosions onboard. All Crowley mariners are safe and fully accounted for.”

I understand this jet fuel was owned by the US government. That’s consistent with the vessel being part of a US government programme designed to supply the armed forces with fuel during times of armed conflict or national emergency.

The US air force has several bases in the UK.

What?

No in-depth explanations that this is either a terrorist attack, or it's a deep-state false flag operation, or it's a double reverso Trump op to smear the deep state and make DOGE layoffs easier?

You guys are slipping.

Why do I keep reading that ship's name as "Schlong?"

You're sick and depraved, that's why.  ;)

I note that in English, the other ship's name is "Goodbye."   (So Long)  How appropriate for a ship carrying 15 containers of cyanide.

The Solong vessel was carrying 15 containers of the chemical sodium cyanide among other cargo, when it collided with the Stena Immaculate tanker in the North Sea earlier, according to a report from maritime data provider Lloyd’s List Intelligence.

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), describes sodium cyanide as a white crystal-like solid with a faint almond odour. It is used in industry for metal cleaning, plating and extraction, and photography. It can also be used to make other chemicals.

The agency says exposure to cyanide salts can cause headache, nausea, dizziness, nervousness, confusion, changes in heart rate and drowsiness. In the most serious cases, there can be heart and breathing problems or even death, it adds.

My inner editor takes exception to the way this was reported.

Quote
Just before 10:00 GMT, two vessels collided off the East Yorkshire coast in a busy shipping area.

Both caught fire. Twelve hours on, they are continuing to burn.

The Stena Immaculate - a US oil tanker - was hit by the Portuguese cargo ship, the Solong, while at anchor.

Properly speaking, references to a "collision" typically imply that bother vessels (or vehicles) were moving immediately prior to the impact, and that they ran into each other. In reality, this wasn't so much a collision as it was a ramming incident. And how the hell fast was the Solong moving -- through an anchorage, no less -- to have created a fire?

One thing on the kind of positive side is it is jet fuel. That will pretty much float rather than sinking like big globs of crude.

It won't float long. I'm pretty sure that's what's burning.

That's why in the Crowley statement WLJ quoted back in post 3 they refered to it as an "allision".  That being defined as a ship hitting a non moving object, like a another ship at anchor.

As far as speed, a couple knots is more than enough to open some holds and start a fire.

"And how the hell fast was the Solong moving -- through an anchorage, no less -- to have created a fire?"

Well, I'm thinking 186,000 miles per second.

Because that's roughly the speed of an electrical signal arcing across faulted wiring. Which is the most likely cause of the fire, in my estimation.

According to Sal Mercogliano, the Solong T-boned Stena Immaculate on the port side at 16 knots which was its normal speed going through that area.  His position is that this was likely just bad seamanship.

Holy crap.  It's a miracle they are still afloat if that's what happened.

Multiple articles have speculated that the Solong was running on autopilot with no warm body in control or paying attention.

Captain currently in police custody on "suspicion of manslaughter by gross negligence".
Oh, and he happens to be Russian along with much of the crew which could be something with all the heated politics going on right now or maybe nothing.

Detained captain of cargo ship that collided with US oil tanker is Russian national, ship owner says
