I guess I also don't fully understand the difference between "convection" and "air fry".

We've got a Ninja double-basket air fryer that also bakes, roasts, reheats and a bunch of other stuff.  Each basket can do its own thing at its own temperature.  It has a smart timing capability that allows each basket to finish cooking at the same time if they have different cooking times.  We love the darn thing.  It works really well.

That might be the one that's at Costco. I have to get my tires rotated at Costco today, so instead of going to the CFA  for lunch while I wait, I might do Costco food court and further research the ovens there.

The Air Fryer Toaster Oven that he shows is, I think, the same model/size as the one I have. He says that it's not good at being an oven. I've had zero complaints with the job that it does for me.

Since my oven/fryer is not as large as a "real" oven, I have found that I will get stuff that is craunched on top.

Gimme a break - still working on covfefe - got a new TV last night, and was playing "set up" until 2ayem. Can't just plug 'em in and they work anymore. Nope.

This is the one I have...

When baking stuff like biscuits in it, I run it about 50 degress less than spec'd, but a bit longer. Otherwise I have the top overdone, since there are elements on the top and the bottom, and they crank right on up there...

This is the one we have:

I've lost track of the different things we've cooked with it.  Everything turns out well to our taste buds.  It's more than paid for itself with all the fresh herbs out of our garden that we dehydrated with it last year.

We have this one. Cosori 5.8 qt

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B085W3GN5J?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_3&th=1

Just about the perfect size for us - two steaks or burgers, eight prefab fish filets, two servings of whatever side we're cooking. Have a friend who got a smaller version and she says it's a hassle even trying to cook for one. She would have bought the larger one if she did it again.

Only downside is frequent hand cleaning since the basket isn't dishwasher safe. Even then, it's not awful. Fill it with hot water and dawn, let soak for a few minutes, then quick scrub with a sponge. SWMBO found out the hard way to not use anything except a soft cloth to clean the touch control surface.

Thanks for that. As I've been perusing Amazon and review sites, I was originally leaning towards one of the 4qt ones to save limited counter space. 4qts sounds big (for one person), but it's apparently not. It looks like 5.5-6qt is a sweet spot.

That was my entire rational for going with one of the larger multi-purpose toaster ovens. Yeah, it's seemingly "too big" for one person, but it's one hell of a lot more useful than the smaller toaster ovens and very nicely bridges the gap of "I can use it as an oven for pretty much everything that I otherwise wouldn't cook in the oven in my stove because yeah, that oven IS too big for most things for one person.

Well, a 5.5qt Ninja Max XL showed up at the front door last Monday. I think it's going to turn into one of those, "Why didn't I get this way sooner?" appliances. So far I've just been doing the Kirkland frozen lightly breaded chicken breasts and breast nuggets in it, cutting up the breasts to put in salads and just munching on the nuggets. I really like the non-oily air fryer crispness.

Today I made frozen veggies in it, seasoning and sprinkling olive oil beforehand. This is gonna be my main way to do veggies from now on. Just excellent. I had the veggies with steak, and was gonna air fry the steak, but it was a ribeye, and I didn't want to take a chance of messing up an expensive cut. I'm gonna pick up some top sirloin and try those first. I also want to try the pork loin Millcreek mentioned in the OP.

I also want to try the Kirkland frozen french fries, which people seem to rave about when done with the air fryer.

My one kinda negative is that the 5.5qt still almost seems on the small side. Doable though. I'm glad I didn't get the 4qt.

We've done pork loins in our Ninja a number of times, usually coated in a dry rub mix SWMBO conjured up.  They always turn out very moist and tasty.  That's the only way we do pork loins now.

Man am I sold on this air fryer cooking. I believe I've used it every day but one since it arrived. This week I bought a Costco 345lb bag of frozen chicken breasts and have been having one of those along with Kirkland mixed vegetables for lunch a bunch of days. I start the breast, then dump in the veggies around 8 minutes later. Great veggies and moist breast with a crunchy exterior.

Today I did pork tenderloin and asparagus. Once again, both came out excellent. The asparagus came out better than any other method I have ever used.

I'm almost getting sick of chicken, but I'm down to red meat 1-2 times a week, and chicken breast is the easiest tasty way for me to eat clean protein to make my daily protein goals without going overboard on the calories.

I eat almost no red meat.

What red meat I do eat is normally pork.

Last beef I had was the beef roast I cooked for Seren and me at Christmas.

Last pork I had was New Year's.

Everything else is chicken or, primarily, ground turkey.

Oh, crap. Hold on. Those meatballs I've been getting. They're a combination of chicken, pork, and beef, so I've been eating more red meat than I thought.

I also made a ham sandwich yesterday with ham sandwich meat...

So, I'm eating prepared red meat, but I'm not buying raw beef at the store and cooking that.

Other than occasionally getting the hankering for an 80/20 burger with all the fixings done on the grill, even my "hamburgers" at home are normally turkey. And my meatloaf is always turkey.

Thread drift alert!!!   For those that like turkey, my wife makes killer turkey breast in a crock pot.  Always moist, tender, and very tasty.  I think her recipe includes some chicken broth in place of the water one would normally use.

I've thought about trying a turkey breast in my crockpot, and have seen some decent recipes.

The problem I have, though, is finding a turkey breast that will fit in my crockpot. Most of the ones in the stores around here are pretty huge, far bigger than what would fit in my round crock pot.

We've got a couple of large oval crockpots.  Those handle turkey breasts pretty well.

Yeah, I've thought about getting a larger one -- 8 or even 10 quart -- to handle really big batches of chili and stew the way I really like to cook.

The one I have is, I believe, 6 quart.

I believe the real key, though, is what you note -- shape. Oval is much better for something like a turkey breast or chicken.

Hum... Amazon has a Hamilton Beach oval 10 quart crockpot  for $60. Not bad. Need to really think about this.

I think the biggest oval crockpot we have is an eight quart.  Turkey breasts fit in it pretty well, but they can be a tight squeez at times.  A ten quart crockpot should do you very well.
