She was sentenced to 12 years in a Russian penal colony in JAN of 2024 for donating to a Ukrainian charity. She is Russian, but a US citizen. Trump brought her home.

A few related things about this story:

Biden had no problem trading Griner for the arms dealer, but could do nothing for this woman? Especially with the Biden admin being all, "Slava Ukraine!"? Of all the US citizens that I have heard about that are/were in Russian prisons, this woman seems like the poster child for completely innocent. If nothing else, she would have been immensely good PR for the Democrats.

In the link, Sebastian Gorka says that she is the 45th person that Trump brought home from overseas prisons. Gorka sometimes exaggerates, but I have only heard of a few (at least that I was paying attention to). I'll assume he was talking about Hamas hostages as well, so what might that be, a dozen or so?

Who are all the other people? If the number is accurate, that's pretty huge. I can't recall any other President bringing that many people home from foreign prisons / hostage situations. I'm curious on all the people that I don't seem to know about.

You'd think Team Biden would have been all over this. Even if they weren't willing to bring her home, they could have used this as a cudgel to make Russia look bad. Of course, it would have just highlighted their own weakness that they couldn't (or wouldn't) do anything about it...
