War with Iran
« on: April 17, 2025, 07:57:12 AM »
The neocons are foaming at the mouth to take on Iran, even Trump seems to be caught up in the madness.

Although, Trump's rhetoric frequently doesn't match his desired ends.

My hope is Trumps realpolitic nationalism overrides the neocon voices that crave destruction and death.

For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, even his everlasting power and divinity, that they may be without excuse. Because knowing God, they didn’t glorify him as God, and didn’t give thanks, but became vain in their reasoning, and their senseless heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.

Trump rhetoric frequently pushes things to his desired ends

Someone told me this ten years ago, and many times since then. I'll believe it when it happens.

(I assume we're talking about direct warfare; not [alleged] proxy wars.)

I'm guessing that Iran will successfully WMD a US city, likely on a coast, likely from a harbor.

And will then cease to exist.

There are ways and there's a lot of variables in this but the devil would be in conclusively proving it was Iran in many such scenarios.

But by then Iran would already be glass.

How far from the ocean is DC?

About 100 miles from the ocean proper, but about 30 from the Chesapeake Bay.

How exciting, potential war with Iran for reasons we aren't allowed to talk about frankly, war in eastern Europe with Russia, whether we want it or not (thanks NATO), and trade warring with China along with the complicated 500# gorilla in the room, Taiwan.

Our spooks would be arranging for the bomb to be planted in the right place and making sure no one of importance (to them) was in that city.   [tinfoil]

Well, it would all be speculation, so I guess discussing whether it is a tail wagging the dog scenario or not would end up being a fruitless discussion.

Is the USA just the muscle for Israel (and Europe for that matter) or are "we" the ones calling the shots?

Would it actually matter?  I reckon back to a time when there was some talk about a "Pax Americana."

These were not the words used then, but our family had lost a number of folks during WWII and was perhaps more jingoisitic than many.

The actual flavor of the discourse was more Brooklynesque than Latinesque, as in "We should atom bomb the living *expletive deleted*it out of any aholes who want to *expletive deleted*ck with us again."

There is a huge factor about Iran that most do not account for- they know they have a good gig going with screeching about the US and Isreal, committing attacks in their sphere of influence, getting the sympathy of the world that hates us, etc it’s all gravy for them

Especially when the democrats and the US government frequently throws a ton of money at them as a reward for doing all of that.
