A few hardcore libs on my FB are going nuckin futs. Somehow one of them went from the new Pope to Trump to Putin in about 12 seconds. I asked her if Trump was paying rent or living rent free in her head. AFAIK she hasn't blocked me yet. BTW, she is living in Scotland so the news she gets is even more slanted than the news here. :)

After watching the movie 'Conclave', it is interesting that Cardinal Prevost was chosen so quickly.

Every serious Catholic I've heard said that movie was horrible.

Looks like it will be Pope Francis Lite.

Dammit, I thought I had a chance.  :'(

The conclave must have confused this guy with me when choosing a Chicago native of roughly similar age.
Trump won in 2016. And again in 2024. Democrats haven't been so offended since Republicans came along and freed their slaves.

The Pope-elect watched it just before his election.

I watched it. I enjoyed the first part, and thought the basic handling of the ceremony surrounding the death of a pope was well done. I also thought the exploration of the human side of the cardinals and their motivations was interesting.

That said, the movie felt rushed, was clearly pushing an agenda (the more liberal characters were portrayed in the most positive light and the least personable characters were more conservative), and the twist at the end had me rolling my eyes both in terms of the believability of the scenario and the specific political statement it makes. A Catholic coworker had similar feelings. She (a politically liberal person) thought the twist was a ridiculous “gotcha” just meant to skewer Catholics.

Da Pope is a sout sider and is a fan of da White Sox.

https://wgntv.com/news/pope-leo/robert-prevost-pope-leo-xiv-chicago-cubs-sox/
For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, even his everlasting power and divinity, that they may be without excuse. Because knowing God, they didn’t glorify him as God, and didn’t give thanks, but became vain in their reasoning, and their senseless heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.
