AND, despite the "claim" by India to be our ally, they are ALSO getting help from Russia AS ARE THE PAKIS !!  The fighter jets India used the other day were a mix of older French and Russian aircraft (and some "homegrown") while the Pakis were using Russian jets with a "homegrown" variant of one of those Russian jets.

Talk about supplying both sides against the middle - - -.

India's been receiving military aid, and purchasing equipment, from Russia for 70 years.

The United States so badly bungled relations with India post 1947 independence that the Indians basically said screw you, we're going to remain neutral.

Then Pakistan was admitted to CENTO and India did a full-bore *expletive deleted*ck you, Britain, *expletive deleted*ck you, US (which was not a full member of CENTO) and they went and cultivated full diplomatic relations with the Soviets.

India did move a bit back toward the center... until the 1971 India Pakistan war, in which the US supported Pakistan.

It wasn't until the 1990s that India and the US moved back towards more positive relations, but it's still been a pretty... tense relationship at times.

Indian had three main conditions for equipment, cheap, easy to maintain by a 3rd world level county, and no little to no strings attached. Note how lately as their economy and support structure has grown they've been looking more and more at western equipment.

What was the other thing that happened...

Oh yeah, the Soviet Union collapsed and Russia wasn't the foil against China that it at one time had been and for close to 20 years their ability to provide exportable military hardware, especially the complex stuff, dropped off dramatically. So of course India's going to start looking for other avenues.

It's no mistake that India's homegrown arms industry started expanding rapidly, both in capabilities and overall output, in the 1990s.

Additional Breaking News

The India-Pakistan cease fire mediated by the Trump Administration has been declared null and void in an emergency ruling issued by Federal Judge James Bosberg. The order further instructed India and Pakistan to immediately resume combat operations in the Kashmir region. 

Liberals hailed Bosberg's order, saying it rightly stripped Trump of any ability to brag about his efforts to bring about peace.

"We don't care how many brown people die," said Congressman Adam Schiff, "As long as the orangeman looks bad."
