Worst movie you've ever seen?
« on: March 06, 2005, 12:40:20 AM »
I finished watching Barbed Wire awhile ago. Outside of about 5 seconds of enjoying the concept of an overflowing weapons check at a bar because wicked CCWs are the standard, and a half second of gratuitous Pamela Anderson nudity, I couldn't stand the film. I mean, I'm talking so bad it was almost physically painful to watch. It reminded me of a hard, long run... it feels best when it's over. Pretty much the worst movie I've ever seen.

So I'd like to know, what's the worst movie you've ever had the displeasure of seeing? Maybe this can serve as a warning list for all movie-going THR/APS members. Cheesy

"The Master of Disguise" starring Dana Carvey, directed by Adam Sandler.

I didn't think it was possible for a movie to get more irritating than "Dune" or less funny than "Howard the Duck" and yet Sandler, the black hole of comedy, managed this feat.

I've never seen any SNL almunus vehicle (Adam Sandler, David Spade, Chris Farley, etc) but I imagine those would rank right up there.

However, Plan 9 from Outer Space is widely considered to the the Worst Movie of All Time, and I've seen that one a couple of times, so I guess that'd be it! Smiley

I liked Barb Wire...then again I was real big into comic books when I first saw it so I just looked at the movie as a comic book come to life.

The worse movie I have ever seen...Soul Plane...we have the Blockbuster Movie Pass so I rented it and it was beyond awful.  There happened to be a gouge in the DVD near the end so it provided a nice way to end the pain.

Manos, Hands of Fate.

It is more bearable with the MST3K treatment.

By far, My Left Foot is the worst movie I have ever seen. If you look for reviews, you'll find this movie warmly regarded. It even garnered a Best Supporting Actress Oscar.

However, watching a slur speeched Daniel Day Lewis flop around using his left foot as the only part of his body he has total control over, (the real life person he portrays is Irish artist and poet Christy Brown, who was born with cerebal palsy), is supposed to be life-affirming or something, when in reality it is excruciatingly boring. It is almost so boring you wish you'd go blind and deaf. I only stuck it out for a date to the woman I married, but she revealed awhile ago that it was the worst movie choice she'd ever forced on a guy.

Lucky me. cheesy We even joke about it now. "If we made it through My Left Foot together we can make it through anything."

Rabbit Test, supposedly a comedy about the world's first pregnant man.  My girlfriend (now wife of 23 years) insisted on seeing it.

I saw a movie on TV called R.O.T.O.R.  It was about a futuristic robotic police officer who (of course) ends up with a mind of its own and goes on a rampage.  It's terrible.  The plot makes no sense, acting is horrible, etc., etc.  I did find it kind of entertaining in a way.  Just when you think it can't get any worse...wrong!

I found a web review of it here:

For me it's a toss-up between Bonfire Of The Vanities and Darkman.

Can't recall much of either movie now, but I still remember being fairly PO'd that I paid money and wasted my time watching them.

Steel Magnolias takes honorable mention.

Mask:
Peter Bogdanovich directed this sensitive and moving story about a teenage boy, Rocky (Eric Stoltz), who lives with severe facial deformities and poor prognosis for survival beyond childhood. The film concentrates on that threshold-of-adulthood period familiar to past and present 16-year-olds, folding together common experiences of youth (love, hassles with mom, a desire to travel) with the special burdens endured by the hero. Stoltz, absolutely unrecognizable under lots and lots of prosthetic makeup, is quite good, as are Cher (as Rocky's mother) and Sam Elliott (Rocky's father figure). More than a tearjerker, the film is a genuine celebration of all that is most precious in life, even more to those who have nothing to take for granted.

The Thin Red Linewas painfully bad, IMHO.

The best part is the end.  Not the ending, but the actual end when you get up and walk out of theater.

Right up at the top of the list is "Orgy of the Dead", made from an Ed Wood screenplay. Criswell (as in: Criswell Predicts!) and some woman sitting around in a graveyard watching a bunch of past-their-prime burlesque dancers do their stuff. A total train-wreck of a movie.

Any movies with Paulie Shore or Adam Sandler ...
My vote:  Charlie's Angels (and the sequel).

"Attack of the Killer Tomatoes". Daughter wanted to see it so it was on that newfangled technology called VHS. So I checked out a VCR machine and the movie.
Painful, painful, painful.

Daughter admitted it wasn't a good movie. A gross misunderstatement.

Also anything with Babs Striesand in it. Or Adam Sandler, or Martin Short or Ben Stiller.

Cut, thats a wrap.

Without a doubt...Moulin Rouge!

My wife & I saw it at a matinee with only a couple of other folks in the theater, so we could talk without being rude (nobody sitting near us).  We kept saying to each other "Surely they didn't spend all the money it took to make THIS"???  And "OK, pretty soon it's got to get better, right"?

OK, Nicole Kidmann is as pretty as a makeup artist/lighting/camera work can make her...but what a ridiculous story, poor acting, Oh, and I almost forgot IT'S (supposed to be) A MUSICAL!!!!!!  Barforama!!!!!

Rule of thumb for us...if the critics love it, we'll hate it and vice versa.
Known from coast to coast, almost!

All the Phi Alpha Theta kids (that's the history honor society) went to see this as a group on free movie night.  Need I say more?

The best part of the movie was watching this skinny little girl in our group eat a huge bucket of popcorn by herself.

A close second would have to be What Lies Beneath.  I didn't think Harrison Ford could suck like that...  I was wrong.

"The Specialist" with Sylvester Stalone and Sharon Stone is hands down the Worst movie of all time.  I saw it at the discount theater when it came out (paid $1.00).  I paid too much.  Even seeing Sharon Stone naked wasn't worth it.

Stalone should never play a character who is suppose to have above average intelligence.

I've seen several that jus tmake me cringe. However, I can't seem to remember most of them. It's a good thing, really.

One that I recently saw that was really up there in crappiness was Resident Evil: Apocalypse. The first one was entertaining - not a good movie, but entertaining. This one was painful.

Except for one or two nudity scenes.
