Needs fleshed out, obviously, but they're off to a good start.

Thanks for the compliment! I started the site and have really been working to flesh it out, thankfully a few other guys have really started to contribute to the site and we're growing nicely. Smiley

I invite everyone to check out the page on The Professional and see if they can identify some of the unknown guns.

Bunni,

Welcome to the Armed Polite Society !

Many of the folks here are extraordinarily knowledgable about firearms.  For example, ask Mike Irwin anything about S&W revolvers !

But, if some guns don't get identified, you can also make this kind of post over on TheHighRoad.org or TheFiringLine.com.   Many of the same folks, but lots more of 'em.  And lots of them will jump all over a chance to identify guns for you.

How can you have Firefly without VERA?!  shocked cheesy

For the record, for the OP, Vera is a heavily decorated Saiga 12 originally made for the Eddie Murphy movie "Showtime".

And Mal's gun is a custom bronze frame over a Taurus Model 85 .38 special.

Oh, wait, I can edit it. Lemme do that...

Edit: Okay, I added a bunch of stuff.

Dobson had an Astra 9mm in the pilot, he shot Kaylee with it.

Zoe's Mare's Leg was built off a Rossi 92 44-40, and was originally made for the series "The Adventures of Brisco County Junior"

Simon had a rubber stunt casting of a Vektor CP-1 in the pilot, in the standoff with Dobson

HRM I wonder how plausible it'd be to modify an existing Taurus into a "Mal Gun."

If you watch any of the really early episodes of the Porter Waggoner show she was in (1967) it's very clear that he was well endowed.

Considering that the casing for it was hand-sculpted and then sandcast in bronze, probably a bit of effort. There's a whole thing about how it was done, with pictures, in the Firefly companion volume.

(Not that kind of companion!)  grin

A whole volume eh!?
Dang!
Sounds plausible...somewhat...
Well, I'm stupid enough to try it some day....just gotta get money first.

Fun fact "gotta" is considered an actual word by Firefox's spell checker...

mbs, just so you don't buy the wrong book:

Firefly, The Official Companion, Volume One, page 78, has an article on how Mal's gun was built up from a Taurus 85.

Some site was selling a replica.  Here's an eBay sale:

Firefly, The Official Companion, Volume Two, page 110, has an article on how Jayne's gun Vera was built up from a Saiga 12.
