Plasma Rifle in the 40 watt range?

This is one of those "in-joke" lines that someone always tosses in on a gun discussion, but can anyone tell me where it originated?

"The Terminator", actually. "T" was in a gun store, and was looking at several contemporary pieces. The clerk, IIRC, asked him if there would be anything else. The line was "phased plasma rifle in the 40 watt range"; the clerk replied, "Hey, just what you see, pal", or something to that effect.

                      A phased plasma pulse-laser in
                      the forty watt range...

                                CLERK
                           (annoyed)
                      Just what you see, pal.

        He indicates the display case and wall racks with a
        minimal gesture.

                                TERMINATOR
                      The Uzi 9 millimeter.

                                CLERK
                           (setting  it out)
                      You know your weapons, buddy.
