I forget the link to thread caseydog started some time back with pics - there were some good ones.

So anyways - what say we share some summer flavors, while it lasts - post something seasonal and maybe even typical of your area.

For now I offer this pic taken this morning - Mr Frog was most obliging while I took some shots!

Veloce - beautiful flower - and while I am no botanist I reckon that is a lily - fairly std lily - we have some soon to be in flower.

I noticed - well on my system and monitor - your pic seemed low on gamma -- needed brightening up - plus it was somewhat large. I took liberty of ''tweaking'' to try and up the vibrancy and also reduced pic to 600 pix max dimension - and saved at enough compression to make about 52K only.

The pic below yours is my lily from last year - different color but you'll see the similarity.

I'll have to play with it in PScs to see if I can match your adjustments.

Your's is still a little crisper.. would adjusting the sharpness help that?

jefnvk - beaut kitten pic - often hard to get those lil' fellas to keep still for long!!

Veloce - good resize there - and looks better too. I did enhance sharpness a tad - I use linear interpolation for resize which helps reduce pixilation but I do add a touch of edge enhancement which adds a bit of bite!

Real pretty Riley - tho Springtime (I'll let you off!) but - nice composition and made better by that low cloud skyline. Looks like a nice walk along there.

Just took this - end of day and a storm passin' by quite close. Missed the best sky color unfortunately.

I just missed a terrific shot. The dog, the cat, SWBO & I just walked down to close the gate. On the way we saw a bunch of turkey vultures sitting in a big pine tree looking into the sunset. I was too lazy to walk back up the hill for the camera.

Riley - if I was disciplined enough to always have my camera - I'd have countless shots I'd be well pleased with! Usually, you have to act fast too .... plus often lady luck on your side.

This shot actually was last summer and I posted it once before but - luck was there re birds in the frame and - the cloud formation was so transient, it was gone a minute later. Camera just happened to be on hand.

Taken with a picturephone, but that's what I need to do to always have a camera with me. Sunset over San Francisco's Marina Green on 6/12/05. Obscured by the flare is the Golden Gate bridge, you can sorta see part of it right above the waterline on the left side. Those hills in the background are the Marin Headlands.

EDIT: Sorry for the continuance of the setting sun cliche... but that lighting only comes about twice a day, and I ain't getting up early.

I think we all tend to take sky pics - sunsets of course mainly - not difficult to see why when lighting can be so incredibly variable and there is beauty to be seen therefore in an infinite number of permutations.

Winston - these phone pics are actually pretty fair considering the very low res they use.

That's at Jackson and something or other, in the the Pacific Heights neighborhood of San Francisco, overlooking the Eastern Cow Hollow and that golden dome is the Palace of Fine Arts, where the world fair of like 1921 was held.

Does anyone know a good free image editing program for macintosh is? I want to mess with the contrast and tint and stuff.

You guys are good - really good. Some of these pics are professional quality and would be at home in any gallery.

Though to P-95 I have to say I prefer the muted somewhat less bright and sharp red lily over the brightened up one you produced. IMO flowers should be soft with muted pastels not sharp and crisp - especially if the shot is a morning shot.

Those frog shots - especially that last one are great. And so is the purple sky shot and that one with the golden sky and the fishermen.

More! More! Give us more.

Werewolf - yep - there are various ways with flowers and I agree sometimes muted and a bit softer can work too - much of course comes down to our own tastes - but I do like to see color ''released'' sometimes.

I am cheating a bit by digging back into last summer again - one of my fave pics I got then with the ''Brood-x" Cicadas .......... this early summer has been a tad more peaceful than last!!!
