So I got a Blackout Transformer instead. :3

I suppose.  What do you mean by old fashioned legos?
They make plenty of sets that are still regular old bricks.  More and more though they're adding special limited run bricks for some choice parts.  But yes, there are sets that are more or less similar to the originals.  Then of course, there are the manly Technic lego sets that I am most interested in.  rolleyes

Oh, I don't know.  I think I'll find a toy store, and just see what's on the shelf.  In the nineties, I had some old-style bricks and a couple of the Technic sets.  I made a totally sweet Lego Hummer.  Had it for a year or two.  Then I disassembled it.  Moron.  Still kicking myself.

It was the last one I got a few years back, I haven't seen any new ones in a while.  But they've had kits like this since the 70s, I don't see why they'd stop now. 
Then of course, there's Technic.  I enjoy that quite a bit too.
For fun, you should check out some of the massive Star Wars kits on this page.  The Death Star and the Millennium Falcon are amazing.
