Does Super Troopers deliver the funny?
« on: August 03, 2007, 09:09:12 PM »
I vote no.  Just saw it, and was thoroughly underwhelmed.  Were they even trying to write a comedy?  It was like watching Police Academy, (shudder) only slightly updated and not quite as hokey.  I liked the basic concept - fun-loving cops messing with citizens' heads, it could have gone someplace.

Now, full frontal nudity is something I object to, morally, though not always aesthetically.  But frontal male nudity?  Of that guy?  Were they trying to make me throw up my popcorn?   shocked

Oh, and if you can figure out the spotlight thing in the poll, you get a gold star.   smiley

I found it HI-larious. Mainly because it reminds me of guys I was in Academy with, and several cops I know.

Yup. Same here. I know some of those guys. grin
I would bet that it's probably funnier to a cop audience than it is to the general public.

The same folks did Beerfest.

Ya know, I like some of the characters, I guess.  It has its funny moments.  I can tell they're fumbling toward true hilarity.  But there's just something wrong with it.  It doesn't work.  I can't put my finger on it.
