The Russians used to own Alasaka.

So maybe it should be "Ivan Moose"  laugh
Freedom is a heavy load, a great and strange burden for the spirit to undertake. It is not easy. It is not a gift given, but a choice made, and the choice may be a hard one. The road goes upward toward the light; but the laden traveller may never reach the end of it.  - Ursula Le Guin

Didn't he sign the SALT treaty with Carter?....
Impressed yet befogged, they grasped at his vivid leading phrases, seeing only their surface meaning, and missing the deeper current of his thought.

They up-dated that article to insert more anti-gun stupid.  But here's one that was nutty enough to be in the first edition.

Quote from: Mayor Daley
"If they think that's the answer ... they're greatly mistaken. Then why don't we do away with the court system and go back to the Old West, you have a gun and I have a gun, and we'll settle it in the streets if that's they're thinking."

This is how is ALREADY working with the gang-bangers and drug-dealers.  Mayhaps if the good people of Chicago might have the chance to ventilate the bad guys, they might stop using the innocents for target practice.
Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

No, they know he is corrupt.  Chicago is built on corruption and it is part of the culture.
Sadly, ET is correct. People that live in Chicago just accept the massive criminality and corruption of the city government. And it has been that way for well over 100 years.

It was less corrupt when Capone ran it.

You are aware that a sizeable percentage of Daley's voters reside in cemeteries?
Many of them are probably in state prison as well.

Of course if the communist and socialist parties and propaganda were outlawed like the Nazi party - as they should be for the same reasons - Daley and people like him wouldn't have been in a position for anyone to vote for him at all.

The Mob still has strong ties to City Hall.

That's why Daley is pushing so hard for the Olympics.  The Mob will make a killing.

Not so much in Chicago.  Killing brings the attention of the United States Attorney.  Better to bribe and award favors.

The courts will find the Chicago prohibitions illegal, and then it will take a few years to overturn what Chicago deems "reasonable restrictions".  And it will proceed thus.  It might be decades until an ordinary person can have a firearm for defense.  And I would not want to be the first ordinary Chicagoan the use a firearm that way.

The problem is that even if someone was able to legally carry a weapon in Chicago, they'd likely be shot as a threat by CPD, who would swear they threatened them with the gun. The whole place is corrupt.
