Sad. That was one very photogenic dog. But yeah, a very good run.

I think I've only had one dog, Ruger, who made it past 10 or so. I think she was around 6 months when I got her, so she would have been pushing 12, I think.

Nikky I think was around 9.

Mason was around 8.5. I really thought I was going to be the giant breed lifespan barrier with him. Then... lung cancer. He's been gone almost exactly 10 years (29 May).

Seren will be 8 in a month or two. I have hope with her, but she's got lymphoma (3 months after her last chemo treatment and she's still in remission!) and she's also showing her age with arthritis. The Galliprant and red light therapy I'm doing with her have made a word of difference in her mobility, but she's also a giant breed dog.

I saw that and my first thought was that 18 was a really good run. I can only hope that Steve would make it close to that. Of my dogs before Steve, Tara, a lab/GSD mix, made it to 13, and Romy, a lab, made it to 15.

Asking which river and which sea are being referred to in 'From the river to the sea Palestine will be free' is a hostile act

They have no idea what the meaning of what they're chanting even means. Not shocking to me at least.

WATCH: Pro-Gaza mom is stumped by DailyMail's question on which river and sea are in the anti-Israel chant at daughter's 'High Schoolers for Gaza' rally

Not to worry. After the protestors conferred and tried to figure it out, but couldn't, they decided to switch to the far more understandable "DEATH TO ISRAEL, DEATH TO THE UNITED STATES" chant.

The Roundtable / Re: Buck Shot

Does anyone know of a maker of No. 4 buck rounds that does a top wad roll crimp instead of a folded crimp?

I have 00 buck rounds from S&B that have a top wad roll crimp, which results in a hull that can fit an extra layer of 00 pellets -- 12 instead of the usual 9.

I figure that a similar No. 4 round would have enough extra room for up to 32 or so pellets.

Hum... well it looks like S&B also makes No 4 buck with a top wad roll crimp in 2 3/4". Interesting. Now to find some.

OK, Ammoman.com has it. But, they're only putting 27 pellets in the shell... only 3 more than what Winchester & Remington puts in their fold crimped shells.

Not sure only 3 extra pellets is worth it. I think I'll just stick with my Winchester & Remington No. 4.

The only thing that comes to my mind about this the internal reflective properties of the glass is supposed to scatter the reflection randomly, but sometimes the "scatter" lines up in one direction due to some issue in the manufacturing process.  .. Sort of like the Fresnel lens.

Reminds me that I bought a couple fresnel lens to play with.  I need to test them out.
I've seen images and articles documenting polar bears done in by global warming too . . . but go ahead and believe what you want. I'm done here too.

Polar bears are bursting into flames?

That's sad.

Actually, I read a pretty interesting theory on this...

These units are hermetically sealed and filled with a low emissive gas like Argon, I believe.

One theory is that, as the windows heat up in direct sun, the pressure builds up in the window and the glass is flexing ever so slightly... just enough to trigger this effect.

Hhmm, I always thought 'kraut was bad.  [barf]

Yep, it's bad in the same way that cheese, pickles, and yogurt are bad...

Totally bad, totally rad and what's for dinner!

Politics / Re: The RIFLE Act

The large majority of the GOP in Congress isn't pro-gun at all.  They are pro-status quo.

The last major pro-gun legislation that actually got into law was the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA), in 2005.

Amen.  There are too many incentives to think in terms of one's own benefit in keeping the boat from rocking --rather than the benefit to the country.

One of the major incentives is "retirement benefits," which usually go along with even relatively minor political office.

Not to mention medical benefits for higher-ups such as Representatives and Senators.

The key is "getting re-elected."

This all adds to the motivation to "do something even though it may be meaningless."  (I might also mention here the benefits of saying "I also sponsored" some BS legislation that "looks good" to specific voter factions.)

The disadvantages of strict term limiting are obvious, but I still think that idea ought to be implemented in many cases.  I mean, after all, the Presidency is limited for good reasons, why not for more public officials?
