That is one of the very few foods on Earth that makes me feel queasy.

I make artificial bacon:  Hard salami, a couple of dabs of hickory smoke elixir, let it sit for a day or two, μ-wave it for ~ a minute per slice on paper plate, dab the top with paper towel to get rid of the excess grease.

You can keep it flat for sammiches by pressing it 'twixt two paper plates while μ-waving it --put an empty cup on top of plates for weight.

Crunchy.  Good.  Yum.

in all honesty the stuff you get at the market(for less than 10 bucks a pound) is as close to bacon as obama is to Lincoln. ;)

Actually, it is:

Kosher Certification
 K-1709

Yes, there are rabbis out there with enough chutzpah to certify things with bacon in the name as kosher.  Fortunately, there is no such thing as eternal damnation in the Jewish faith. If you keep kosher, the good news is that all of J&D's products are Kof-K certified. Hickory, Peppered, Jalapeno, Maple, Applewood and Mesquite Bacon Salts are Kof-K Parve, while Original, Natural, and Cheddar Bacon Salts along with Regular and Lite Baconnaise are Kof-K Dairy. Please visit www.kof-k.org to learn more about Kof-K kosher certification.

Sweet memories to drive us on,

If you are ever lost in mid-america, try to find a cut called Arkansas bacon. Kill for that stuff.
