Yep.  Lots of Brit Hate in american entertainment.  I don't think it comes from anglo- or german- Americans, though(1).  I think it is more the, uh, "scots-irish" hatred for upper-class american WASP culture, when american upper-class WASP culture is no more.


(1) Some irish americans are still sore and some scots americans have learned they are supposed to be sore and work at it.

I think it has more to do with the fact that the Brits were our first national enemy.

Also, it gave all the Commie's and fellow travelers in the press and Hollywood a way to do a "Hand Waveum" to avoid any publicity of Stalin's crimes.  "Look over there, see what those 'right-wing' Nazi's did to the Jews !!!!"

Which gave them a two-fer.  It also allowed them to paint the National Socialists (remember, a hated enemy of the Commie's/Stalinist/Soviet lovers) as "right wing" to avoid the "left wing=industrial scale murder" truth.

Misconceptions that continue to this day.
