In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence.

The tail number on the mothballed one in the video at 4:23 is 19307.

Yet looking at it again, most of the pictures show a different tail number (20001), so what gives?

19307 is clearly a different aircraft. Look at the video again.

There were only two XB-70s. The bomber program was canceled with the introduction of SAMs that threatened high altitude bombers and the two airframes were used for research.

The bolded part didn't work out too well for him either.

Drives me nuts, we don't have peerage in this country.

True. And while popular usage says the Constitution guarantees a trial by a jury of our "peers," in reality it doesn't say that anywhere.

The Roundtable / Re: Titanic tourist sub goes missing

I figured the indices for salt water and regular old "glass" were close enough to make it hard to find fragments, viz. the marble in (assumedly tap) water as a demonstration.

IIRC Optical glass has a very high refractive index for lens purposes.  I vaguely recall that "optical" glass had lead in it and the lenses were advertised as containing lead.  I also recall that lead lenses were soft and easily scratched.

A lot of the assumed visibility would depend on the angle of incidence of the illumination.  Down there in the depths, the surveillance device would probably have the lighting close to the viewing lens, so reflections would be pretty much at a minimum except for the angles around the breakage lines, if any.   Sidelighting would make the searched-for glass fragments more visible.

Anyhow, my musey little brain had to laugh at the submarine's window being submerged in miles and miles of glycerin.

I thought the Titanic tourist sub's viewport was made of some kind of plastic.

The XB-70 is cool, but I was actually more excited to see the Thundescreech sitting next to it. (At 2:51).  The Valkyrie is cool and fast, but the XF-84 is just peak 'Merica.

You also got a shot of the Tacit Blue 6:55 and that red and white X10 (unmanned demonstrator that first flew in 1953!) under the wing and on the ramp is just gorgeous. I need to get back there and visit, it has gotten so much better since I was there 40+ years ago.

Is this new, self-identified "independent" still going to caucus with the Democrats?

Everybody distracted by the conviction news?  Good.  We'll just slide this little bit in while no one's paying attention.

What could go wrong?

Apparently now that Brandon went first, Germany and the UK are doing the same thing.

If RKL were still posting here, this would be where he posts that clip from Hunt for Red October.
