30 minutes with one doll costs $ 80 Canadian and there is free parking. A bargain, eh?

Does the doll make breakfast afterward?

Does the doll make breakfast afterward?
Of course not. The whole reason you pay is so the doll leaves after.
-
The dolls are made of silicone, which is designed to give them a realistic look and feel, she said. In order to sanitize the dolls, Lee said a three-step routine is used after each booking.
However, staff still “highly recommend” the use of condoms, according to the website.
I wanted to use that kiss face emoji, but that seems a bit creepy with this story.

Who cleans these things? If you leave it dirty do you get your deposit back?

Even I know that's not how a brothel works.

Sheer wide-ranging pure scientific curiosity demands that I ask: Do they have man dolls, too?
Don't read anything else but sheer wide-ranging pure scientific curiosity into this question.

From the article:
There are six different female sex dolls advertised. “Exotic girls to cater to everyone’s choice of beauty,” the website reads.
“We tried really hard to try to cater to every single standard of beauty, we have different ethnicity, different eye colours, different hair colour,” said Claire Lee, a representative for Aura Dolls. The company said they plan on expanding their collection “in the near future,” and will add male dolls.

Just out of sheer, pure wide-ranging engineering curiosity, I wonder what his situation is for utilities and things like keeping flies and mosquitoes out.

They're trying to get all the standards of beauty with only six dolls?

Look, they got boy whores! Isn't
that thoughtful? Wonder if they
service girlfolk at all.

Sheer wide-ranging pure legal curiosity demands that I ask: Would videos of sex acts between a boy blow-up doll and a girl blow-up doll be deemed pornography?

Jamis can never go there...

Modular, man, modular.

They make midget sex dolls?
How could they not?

Given 230RN's sheer, pure wide-ranging engineering and legal curiosity, I nominate him to go visit the Heart of Gold brothel in Toronto and report his findings to APS.
Don't read anything into this nomination, it's just for sheer, pure, wide-ranging engineering and legal curiosity.

They make midget sex dolls?
Somewhat on point, but I have read that some jurisdictions have prohibited sex dolls made to resemble children. For some reason, some of the more sensationalistic British newspapers publish a lot of stories about sex dolls, and from that I have learned that China is the Silicon Valley, so to speak, of sex doll manufacture. Some of the companies will allegedly make you a custom sex doll that conforms to whatever particular requirements you have.
-
Yep, there is a height requirement (for the dolls, not the customers).
However, Lee said that the business is operating within the law. “The only law stating with anything to do with the dolls is that it has to meet a height requirement. It can’t resemble a child,” she said. “We made sure that all their dolls fit the criteria and don’t resemble children.”

That brought up an odd thought: Since the doll is is not an actual person, would teenagers be allowed to use this service? I am not sure if existing laws would prevent that. I am probably wrong since we are moving toward new things being illegal by default.

Of course it would be illegal, but I don't know how the government will charge a sex doll with statutory rape.
-
Bright side, some of you ugly mofos can get laid. Down side, gotta go to Canada.

I presume the same laws would apply as at a strip club, sex club, or any kind of pornographic theater (if those still exist).
-

I decline the nomination to investigate personally for that reason.
Canada, Mexico, Maryland, New Jersey, Caifornia, Illinois are all among the many foreign countries in which I will never set foot.
Besides, as Chief Scientist and Principal Investigator, I only deal with budgets, concepts, task assignments, publication review, PR, and things like these. I almost never do the actual dirty hands-on, nuts and bolts scientific research.

I'm picturing a giant dishwasher in the back.

Maybe a huge water tank where you drop them in along with like a 1000 denture cleaners.

More likely, Pedro out back with a garden hose and bucket of suds....

At least give him a bottle brush.
-
Given the weird fetishes out there you might be able to find people who'll pay you to clean the dolls.

A hose fitting in some discreet place.

A hose fitting in some discreet place.
Yes! A washout fitting as I have seen on some lawnmower decks!

At least it is not puppy play....

There's this little gem at the very end.
In the same article, author Neil McArthur raised the question of the dolls’ appearance. “Will they be pornified fembots?” he said. “These exaggerated female creatures with huge breasts that look like this teenage male fantasy of what a woman should look like.”
He said researchers are looking at how to address gender issues that may arise from the appearance of sex robots.
What possible gender issues could they even be talking about? I guess they are worried that if someone asks for a female one that they'll bring out the one with a vagina, and vice versa. Did they even stop to ask the sex dolls how they felt their gender was?

I think they're worried that masturbating with sex dolls will give men an unrealistic view of what women are really like. For example if they look like Kim Kardashian (sp?), then men will start expecting all women to be enormously well-endowed. ;/
And besides that, the Kim Kardashian dolls will only get in bed with the black clientele.

Okay, but what about the front hole?

I'm not clear on some bit of logic here. Wouldn't allowing child sex dolls let the pedophiles get their jollies that way instead of abusing real kids?
See disclaimers, 230RN op cit.

Think of it this way, a doll isn't as good as the real thing and may serve to simply increase their desire to attempt the real thing.
-

 Oh, I see. Well, I can't testify to that, myself. >:D
However, the "may" part of your comment sounds like the clause that follows is merely speculative.
I could likewise speculate that a doll "may serve to simply" decrease "their desire to attempt the real thing."
In the meantime, leave the punishment for the actual act in the law for the discouragement of the actual act.

Didn't SCOTUS rule in favor of cartoon child pron? The dolls would seem analogous.

Being in Canada I don't think they give a rats ass about what the SCOTUS has ruled.
-

That sounds like the reasoning against porn in general: that viewing it increases the viewer's desire, making them more likely to commit acts of rape. Believe that was first stated by an incarcerated serial killer, so I have some trouble putting any stock in it.

Not sure to what you're referring. I know there was a SCOTUS ruling on completely computer generated child porn (they ruled against it). And I'm still somewhat conflicted on it, as there's no victim (no model used, so no child put into a sexually explicit situation). So... on the one hand, "ick"... but without a victim, there shouldn't be a crime...
-
I poorly phrased my comment. I would imagine that is the thought process in those who are against the idea. As to the "not as 'good' as the real thing part, ever used a condom? (drops mic)
-

Besides, if they can't get a doll, what's to stop them from chewing one out of a Pop Tart? (Or Toast 'Em)

Ah, yes.

According to The New York Times (a former newspaper), SCOTUS ruled in favor of the animated kiddy pron.
https://www.nytimes.com/2002/04/16/national/supreme-court-strikes-down-ban-on-virtual-child-pornography.html
So I guess they must have ruled against it. =)

Now I'm curious about Justice Thomas's concurring opinion, which they mentioned in passing but didn't give any details. BTW, I thought Strings was right on this, but I guess we were mistaken.

I will refrain from making any jokes about the preponderance of Catholics on the SCOTUS. :P

Toronto businessman brings sex robot brothel to the Galleria area
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- The owner of a Canadian-based sexbot business said Friday its first franchise in the U.S. will be located in the Galleria area on Richmond Avenue. He did not want to give an exact address without permission of the franchise holders.
Wonderful. Just what Houston needs.
I wonder if they have illegal immigrant sex slave dolls. I have my doubts if the mayor's sanctuary city ideas will extend to sex dolls.
-
Wow... I could have SWORN I had read that SCOTUS had upheld the law. Weird
I'm still conflicted about the whole thing. But, then again, isn't the 1st Amendment about protecting speech that we find ugly/uncomfortable/unpopular?
