Thereby spoiling the element of surprise for his real raid target?

Hmmm.  Kinda odd.

The time it took to have that conversation and the risk that you could tip off the target doesn't jive with just holding the raid for another 45 seconds until you got in your car and drove away.

So yeah, Mike: I'll say it - Bastard JBT's.  Always out to "control" anything they can without actually engaging a brain cell first.

Meh.  Mountain and molehill thingy here.  By that time of the morning, most anybody is sacked out nicely. 
It does stand to reason that the longer they are outside, setup and possibly exposed, the higher the chances of being discovered and possibly ambushed.  I'd have told her to go back inside, too.

No news on what happened, but they were out there (with an APC and at least three dozen guys with rifles) until close to 10AM. Didn't exactly poke my head out and see what happened when they were leaving. I like my blood right where it is.

This was next door to you?  Three dozen guys with rifles doing a raid next door = me and the family are going down the street in the opposite direction.
On two occasions, I have been asked [by members of Parliament], "Pray, Mr. Babbage, if you put into the machine wrong figures, will the right answers come out?" I am not able to rightly apprehend the kind of confusion of ideas that could provoke such a question.

No, three buildings down about 250 yards away. I would've left with everyone had they allowed it, they were saying STAY IN THE HOUSE. We have concrete walls, I wasn't too concerned.

So the Denver cops needed 30+ guys and an APC to take care of a situation that should have required little more than a squad car or two and a competent negotiator.

Four hours (give them half an hour to think of something like checking the corpse's wallet and running the ID) to decide that his empty house isn't a threat?

You obviously haven't lived in Denver. Good bread programs and the police are the circus. I lived there for 19 years. My mother was a city employed nurse. My father worked for (my memory fails me now) the downtown hospital that was part of CU Boulders medical training. I am the the direct result of Denver's inner workings. I know it well. A good portion of my family still live there.

I miss it...not too much though. I don't care for Arkansas, but Denver is a place I have no desire to return to.

When all you have is a Hammer (SWAT Team), everything looks like a Nail (No-Knock raid/Hostage Situation).

You think if PTK couldn't get out, the food would get in?  The delivery guy is going to say to the cops, "No, you can't have it, it isn't yours" after they ask to "inspect" it, or suggest the car might need searching?  Delivery might be low on the totem pole, but most of those guys aren't stupid.
