I had some similar fun when I posted a Ford Focus for $3500 on the local Craigslist site about a year ago.

First hit was some lowballer who emailed me a rediculous offer.  I just wrote back with a simple "No thanks."  He emails back with a slightly higher offer.  I reply back as before.  He comes back slightly higher again.  By this time I just keep messing with him, replying "No thanks." to each offer.  He gets to within $700 of my asking price and gives up.  I didn't care as I had the car listed at a fair price and wasn't planning on going any lower anyway.  The car sold at my asking price a few days later.

DecDay:

I think your Jeep is just in the wrong market at the wrong time.  Maybe Jeeps are hot up north right before/during winter, but they are hot in the south when the temp is hot.  Like now.

People want some crazy money for them down here.  I spent four hours looking for used Jeeps at what I call the "used car clumps" around town.  You know, the strips of road with used car dealers lining them, one after another.  We saw one effing Jeep.  It was dang near new.

In the local listings & usual car-listing suspects, same deal.  Closest candidate was 4 hours away in Okla-freaking-homa.

The fun isn't limited to just Craigslist.

I have a couple of guns on Armslist, which is someone's attempt to make a gun-friendly Craigslist. I had three emails about my .22 pistol, each telling me what a wonderful little gun it is. None with an offer.  A few emails asking if it is still available. After an affirmative reply - nothing. "Does it have a 7 inch barrel? I'd really like a 7 inch barrel." After an affirmative reply - nothing.

I am confuzzled. Why do people bother doing this?
Political tags - such as royalist, communist, democrat, populist, fascist, liberal, conservative, and so forth - are never basic criteria. The human race divides politically into those who want people to be controlled and those who have no such desire.

They do it with everything. When we finished unpacking at our new house, we had easily two to three hundred dollars worth of boxes and another $200 or so worth of bubble wrap. All sorts of boxes, including wardrobe.

I put it all on Craig's List for free. People emailed to ask for directions. I got calls probably every hour or so from people I emailed. A couple of people asked me to hold it all for them.

Only two people showed up to take anything, and their cars were too small to hold more than a few boxes. The city garbage truck got the rest.

Oh I wish I could do that.  Knowing my ex, it would prompt her to file a false charge of domestic violence.  I just can't risk it.

I've listed free stuff on both Craigslist and Freecycle, and any future free stuff is getting listed on Freecycle only.  All the cranks on Craigslist make it more trouble than its worth.

Thanks!  This is one of the best weekends of my life.  Minivan sold yesterday for asking price.  That got me out of five years of car payments.

Jeep sold today for $500 less than asking price.  No big deal.  I told my ex whatever we get for the Jeep we will use to buy her a car.

The only down side is that the house she wants is not available until July 1st, so I might end up tolerating her until then.  She is still looking at houses though, so maybe she will find one that's available NOW!

It is much more powerful to seek Truth for one's self.  Seeing and hearing that others seem to have found it can be a motivation.  With me, I was drawn because of much error and bad judgment on my part. Confronting one's own errors and bad judgment is a very life altering situation.  Confronting the errors and bad judgment of others is usually hypocrisy.
