i am handicapped here. i lack imagination and can only use reality
if you are unarmed and contact the co you get to walk quite often
perhaps you can explain why you don't like a law that provides a lesser penalty for unarmed assault

Assault is assault.  If they can not convict, then they have not the evidence to prove assault.  Come back when they do and quit whining and asking for special treatment.

You didn't read it either? You don't believe an unarmed action is different?  They now have an appropriate charge where some family member interferes when some LiL angel who was just turning their life around gets hauled off

It is much more powerful to seek Truth for one's self.  Seeing and hearing that others seem to have found it can be a motivation.  With me, I was drawn because of much error and bad judgment on my part. Confronting one's own errors and bad judgment is a very life altering situation.  Confronting the errors and bad judgment of others is usually hypocrisy.

Neither impressed nor otherwise. Definitely not buying the noise in the thread title. It's often amusing how folk react prior to reading.

You must have a lot more time to read stuff than I do.  =|

Okay, finally realized there was a link on the last page.  The scope of the this law appears to include harassment as well as actual assault.  I would think those should be two separate charges.

By the letter of this law, if you tap a NY cop on the shoulder to get his attention and he feels he is annoyed, does that mean he can nab you for aggravated harrassment?  Using the term "annoy" and "alarm" and then saying only "physical contact" is needed to make it apply seems to leave it a bit wide open to me.

It is nice to know that playing the "I'm not touching you!" game with NY cops is still legal.   =D

In his defense THIS TIME, the link is pretty short.

I'll admit I was intimidated to even read the source document since most bills nowadays require about 90 pages to say "thou shalt not steal."  And about 9000 to say "the government shall steal from you."

But this one is only about 1 page long.

So C&SD, can you play "I'm not touching you" with NY cops or will you get burned?  He can be annoyed all he wants as long you don't touch him.

It wouldn't be the first law that was broadly worded and narrowly used/enforced, but that is my main concern about it.

So any physical contact the cop feels was intended to annoy him is now a felony. Yep, I don't care for it.

Seriously, you have been acting like there was some loophole buried in there since the last page.

i suspect they can gig you for lesser stupidity as well  just not a felony
