Define illegal gambling device.

Freedom is a heavy load, a great and strange burden for the spirit to undertake. It is not easy. It is not a gift given, but a choice made, and the choice may be a hard one. The road goes upward toward the light; but the laden traveller may never reach the end of it.  - Ursula Le Guin

Define illegal gambling device.

Were they illegal because they were tampered with?

Were they illegal because, while allowed under state law, they were unlicensed/uninspected/whatever?

Were they illegal because the law THINKS they MIGHT have been illegal, and thus seized them anyway?

Way too much wiggle room, and the only thing it does is make the victim sound like a predator herself.

What? She was robbing people with illegal gamling devices? Then the bitch deserved what she got!

The king wasn't getting his shilling.  ;)

They were illegal here in Illinois until about June.  Then when the state needed to suck more money out of people bad at math it legalized the machines.  The state is now taking in over $30 million per month (last I checked, which was Sep.).
Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

I drove past several bars while visiting my parents in Illinois this summer before it struck my that, No, all these bars aren't offering Call of Duty tournaments when advertising "Video Gaming".
I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

Both him and his lawyer were so sleazy I couldn't bring myself to take a stand  =|

If you're going to take a stand, make it for a case that's worth the effort.

They're illegal because gambling machines in this state are illegal. No permits, no tampering or lack there of, they're simply illegal. If you stick money in it in an attempt to win money it is illegal in the state of SC. It's a stupid and silly law, but the merits of it are a different discussion entirely.

When you run an illegal operation, are known to carry the proceeds around with you, and eventually something like this happens? It's a lot less surprising or outrageous. Justified or "got what she deserved"? *expletive deleted*ck no. But a lot less surprising.

And I'm not going to ra ra ra that the old lady running an illegal gambling operation got a CWP to protect the proceeds when she carried them home late at night. 30 years younger and without the sweet old lady with her doggy photo and I'm sure this story would do wonders for concealed carry.
That is all. *expletive deleted*ck you all, eat *expletive deleted*it, and die in a fire. I have considered writing here a long parting section dedicated to each poster, but I have decided, at length, against it. *expletive deleted*ck you all and Hail Satan.
