Happy ending.

Good outcome for a change. However, LEO Dipshit should be in jail, sharing a cell with "tiny" who will show him the ins and outs of prison social graces.

Why LEO Dipshit, and his superiors, are not behind bars is troubling. I sincerely hope jail time will be the next step up the ladder for criminals like LEO Dipshit. It's not enough t slap them on the wrist, pay out a suit/settle (taxpayers money).  Jail time is warranted.  Strip away all immunity from LEOs, all of it. PERIOD.   Make it mandatory that the DA file criminal charges in cases of civil rights violation, excessive force, wrong house raids, etc....  Enough of this crap.

The story seems to indicate that only the officer was sued? He should have been for sure, but it seems like the city should have been hit with a MUCH greater lawsuit for both promoting the speed trap and for essentially stealing the "missing" money.

The whole "large sums of money" thing bothers me WAY more than the drug sniffing dogs. There are actually laws about drugs (right or wrong). There are no laws about carrying cash, and the fact that I can become a "suspect" if I have a wad of cash on me, and have that cash confiscated on 'suspicion" just bothers the hell out of me.

Yep. Worse, if you sue to get your money back, they have private attorneys who work for the government on contract. If they win they keep a percentage of the money. Yeah, definitely an incentive to see justice done there.

Hell, you are a suspect if the car you drive appears to be a mismatch for your age bracket. There was a local case a few years back where police pulled over and searched a 23 year old's $60K Mercedes and confiscated the guns he legally had in the trunk. The 'kid' was a very successful business man who worked for his family's company. The cops didn't like that a 'young punk' could afford nicer things than they could.

Given the title, this thread is EXTREMELY disappointing

I have reached a conclusion regarding every member of this forum.
I no longer respect any of you. I hope the following offends you as much as this thread has offended me:
You are all awful people. I mean this *expletive deleted*ing seriously.

Realizing there was no chance of surviving before a jury, Officer Fry's lawyers decided to settle the case last week for $77,500.

So now they have to drop the speed limit twice within a couple of blocks to generate enough cash to offset the judgement.

Got tagged (ca 1976) in one of those situations in Gilcrest CO. Sixty-five mph on the highway and within 100 feet another sign that said 50 mph.

You look at their website...

http://townofgilcrest.org/

...and the VERY FIRST thing you see is a  link to their "Municipal Court."

Duzzat tell you something?

And yeah, the "large sums of money" and the "driver inappropriate to the car" things also bother me.

It also makes me want to keep a can of Glade room deodorant in the car.  I wonder if the dogs, certified or not, would "alert" on that.  (Note: I do not use any drugs at all.)

Just make sure you don't have a coffee can in the back seat.
There are five things, above all else, that make life worth living: a good relationship with God, a good woman, good health, good friends, and a good cigar.

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American Soldier.  One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

Bacon is the candy bar of meats!

Only the dead have seen the end of war!
