I may be a little biased but reading both stories leaves me with a sense that the cops are more interested in the purveyors of justice than they are in the thugs that started the party.
Cops hate competition.

I have little to no sympathy for those that are harmed when they commit illegal acts.   I have all the sympathy in the world for those harmed by those that do evil.
