If you took the ferry, did you go to the Strand Cinema in Rockland?  I had a summer job there, too.  =D

The Pennsylvania home has an underground shooting range.

The one in Tennessee doesn't look very impressive for the price. Maybe it's on a lot - and I do mean a LOT - of land?

Some of the homes (e.g., Oklahoma) just look weird.

Says built in 1970 so likely designed in the late '60s. That explains a lot.
Being only about 30 miles from me I'm a little surprised I've never seen/heard of it before, it is a bit unique.

Even if I had the money I wouldn't be interested in most of them. Way too big I have absolutely ZERO desire to have that many people at my house even to visit for a day let alone spend the night.
With that kind of money I opt for a more modest house of 2000-2500 sq ft on as big a piece of land as I could swing.

This would do OK.

If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

Well, you'd have four extra houses to send guests to. :P  =D

I actually think like you. I don't want a dinky house, but I don't want a ginormous house to have to take care of, heat, etc.

As I've been looking in Idaho though, all the areas I'm interested in, especially those by the Snake or by a little lake or something, are like 5000 sq ft. Either that or they're 70 years old with three bedrooms and a single bath and somewhat confined architecture. It's starting to look like if I want a modest house house built with newer, efficient materials and design, I'll need to buy the land and build.

I really like the Florida home as well- beautiful surroundings and house.  They even decorated the inside with fossil fish:

I didn't say "ferry." There were (and are) no ferries serving Castine. We borrowed a lobster boat (legally, with permission.)
