But does it make you a "shooter"?
Depends on if you shoot it I guess.

From what I have seen, just a small LED light will do.  It doesn't even have to be very power.  In the dark it will stand out.

If there are no other lights, a birthday candle is visible over a mile away.  In a typical brightly lit city, anything short of painfully bright can get lost in the noise pretty easily.

I walk a lot in the area near my house.  Often I am out after dark or at dusk without light and sometimes darker clothing.

I think the point was missed: "gun owner," but not in the sense that "we" use "gun owner," meaning someone actually qualified to talk about gun ownership.

Once again, the difference is between denotative and connotative meanings.
WHATEVER YOUR DEFINITION OF "INFRINGE " IS, YOU SHOULDN'T BE DOING IT.

No, I understood the point. Just like jamis, you were creating an arbitrary purity test. A no true Scotsman fallacy.

Not owning guns does not preclude someone from being qualified to talk about gun ownership.

That's true, and needed for open discourse.  It's not, however, unreasonable to point out that there is a direct correlation* between talking about things you have no experience in, and horseshit spewing from your mouth.

For example, I own a pretty nice mountain bike.  I raced competitively in high school.  It would be silly now, 20 years later, to pretend I know what issues face cyclists on the road in Tampa, despite the fact I both live near Tampa, and own the needed equipment to be a cyclist.

*Some might say exponential correlation even.

I don’t disagree.

But that is different from saying that because someone isn’t quite as interested in something as I am that they are excluded from the hobby. “Sure, he rides his bike every day, but he doesn’t even wear spandex, so he isn’t a real cyclist!”  “Okay, he has a gun, but because he doesn’t shoot every week he isn’t a true gun owner!”  “He may go hunting, but he uses a gun instead of a bow so he isn’t an actual hunter!”

As far as guns and horseshit, I know more than one person who doesn’t currently own a gun but has enough experience to be worth listening to, and plenty of folks who own and shoot lots of guns that are outright idiots with regard to firearms.
